Help with a cheap flight from Oregon to Michigan and back.

Google Flights A lesser known tool, but I think it is quite useful. You can look at multiple airlines, multiple airports, multiple destinations, and multiple dates at the same time. $543 is what I found for you on United. Flying back Tuesday coming back Thursday. You could also try a travel...

    Auto Cancelling Turn Signals

I don't think this one has been posted here yet, but here's a new product coming out. https://www.safer-turn.com/ It uses position and motion sensors instead of odo and time based methods. It looks pretty slick if it works as described. They are currently looking for beta testers. I signed...

    Tech Day XII

Alright, I'll buy a gasket and O-rings for my valve check. If I don't need the gasket, it can go in the spare parts bin for the next person. I stayed away from the valve checks before, but I'm assuming this can be done in a reasonable amount of time. I'm told that I want this to be a day...

    Tech Day XII

Well this would be the second one. Missed the Tech Day when I was at 25k. Made the mistake of having a local guy do it came recommended. Long story short, he got it done, but it was quite expensive and I had to replace my Audiovox after he was done. Live and learn, Tech Day can't be missed.

    Tech Day XII

Alright, on the calendar. I'm due for a valve check I think. 50k a reasonable time to do that? Owosso is more manageable and with 4 months notice, I should be able to make it. I'll have my electrical stuff with me if anyone needs help with that.

    J&M CB2003 on 15 FJR

My buddy installed his with the normal bracket on his 2014. He can reach the buttons and doesn't seem to mind it. I rode his after he installed it. It was doable, but not great. I can't find the post, but someone else bought the standard bracket. He bent it so it used the top bolt of the clutch...

2016 Pants Adventures - Advice, Ideas, and Input Encouraged!

Keep me apprised. Depending on your route, I may try to meet up. Won't make the ramble, but a day trip isn't out of the question.

    GoPro placement

Same reason for me. I use the remote. I attached the clip to my keychain and the remote fits right between the handlebars on the stem nut. I do have risers, so it was a tight fit, but it worked. The only problem is the display on the remote is upside down. But if you get a feel for the menu...

    GoPro placement

I bought the suction cup mount for mine. I've been really happy with it. I place it on the nose of the bike, just under the windscreen over the Yamaha badge. It works pretty well there. I've also done some shots from the top case back when riding in a group. I've tried a few times along the...

2016 Pants Adventures - Advice, Ideas, and Input Encouraged!

Pants, I think you'd like the SE Ohio Ramble. It fits with your riding style. Most are much too aggressive for me, especially two up. But the company was great both times I've been. I think you'd be bored by the UP honestly. There is some great scenery, but if you're not on the water, the roads...

2016 Is Official 6-spd, Slipper, LEDs, Analog Tach, Price

Ugh.... I wish they had killed it. I still can't justify it. The ensuing divorce + the new bike would be more than I could afford. Now if something happened to my bike, then I'd place my order ASAP. But for now, I'll have to stick with my 2006 in good condition, stored in my unlocked garage...

    Any rumor on the 2016...?

I predict that IF there is a 2016, it will be exactly the same as the 2015. It will just have a 6 instead of a 5 on it. Or the color will be clear, as in invisible or imaginary.

    Yamaha YXZ1000 Side by Side

What new FJR? Used to work on Arctic Cat's ATV instrumentation. Since the gauge is the only thing that knows the speed, they wanted me to implement a governor at 50 MPH. Then they changed their minds to 70 MPH, then 80. After that, they said why bother? So it was scrapped. I spent days running...

    Any rumor on the 2016...?

Not saying I would chose the ST over the FJR. Never. Guess my point was they seem to be selling them 4 years later, albeit at a ridiculous price. Maybe I can still get a brand new Gen 3 years down the road as long as I'm OK with it saying 2015 and being liquid graphite. Or is Honda's insane...

    Any rumor on the 2016...?

Honda still has the ST1300 listed on their site and it is still a 2012. Do they still manufacture them? Perhaps there is hope. Would I like a Gen 3? Yes. Can I justify it? No. My concern is when it is time to get a new bike, what am I going to do?

    Photo Back-ups

If you're tech savvy, there are some open source solution. Free NAS is one I attempted to get to work on an old desktop. Didn't try very hard and gave up. But it could be an option to look into if cost is a concern and you have some old hardware lying around. Photos were all I bought for the...

    Photo Back-ups

I have a Synology NAS DS212j. Quite a useful bit of hardware. It has two 3TB drives in a RAID 1 configuration (mirrored drives). Also acts as a photo server, media server, and web server. It can do other things, like a streaming audio service, security cameras, mail server. The photo server is...

    Blue Angels Homecoming show

The same thing happened to the Air Fair in Muskegon. They tried to go toe-to-toe with Muskegon's other big event, Summer Celebration, and they lost. But I have fond memories of seeing the Blue Angels, the Thunderbirds, Snowbirds, and other big acts. Our neighbor's son piloted the Harrier jet...
