    Tech day X

GPS and phone charger will be fine with the 22 gauge. I'd say grab some red 14 gauge and we should be fine. We can use the PosiTaps if you really want to, but I solder and heatshrink all of my connections.

With Bust's ticker in the shape its in, he probably shouldn't be near anything electrical anyway. I have some 14 gauge black wire, and 22 gauge red and 22 gauge black. Fuzeblock recommends 12 gauge for the battery and ground connections. The 22 gauge is probably sufficient for circuits 5 amps or...

I can handle that. Might need to pick up some thicker gauge wire than what I have. But I'll have the soldering iron and should have enough heat shrink.

Helmet NOT covered with gear on Insurance Policy

After hearing a similar story, I went back into my insurance agent last year to check. My insurance does cover a helmet, but no other gear. I put an extra $1k on gear and $2k on accessories once I found out they only covered the bike in stock configuration.

    Tech day X

Alright, maybe pushing my luck here. My dad's in need of a tire change too. Is a new set of tires on a 1500 Goldwing feasible for this kind of event? And if so, is anyone up to the challenge? He brings fewer technical skills to the table than me, fair warning.

You got a deal. So I need to get the tires (obviously) and balancing weights? Anything else? Particular kind of weights? Size? Weight?

Wife doesn't work that weekend, so there's a possibility. Pretty good chance, since I missed the last one. I'll help with any electrical work. Any chance I could get some PR4's put on?

Motorcycle Wind Noise Comparison Test Should You Wear Earplugs

Lesson learned on Tuesday. Dealer has a $29 oil change special, so I took the bike down to get it done on my lunch. Threw the helmet in the top box and the earplugs in my pocket. Nothing really within walking distance of the dealer, so I went and poked around new bikes, played some games on my...

Motorcycle Wind Noise Comparison Test Should You Wear Earplugs

Had never considered earplugs until I was given a pair to try. Made a believer out of me, they are just part of the gear now.

    J & M CB radio - SOLD

Might be interested in just the Integrator if you get to that point.

    Audio Cables, Questions

With my J&M, I had to convert male to female for my Bluetooth adapter. I had an issue with the female coupler. Had to try a couple of those before I could get one that was snug. Also reinforce connections that you can with electrical tape. If you're comfortable with a soldering iron, you can...

December trip into AZ and beyond

No problem. Hope it helps out. I have the routes saved somewhere in Google maps. I'll dig those up and them to the ride report. That ride did not include Sedona. I took the picture above on a trip last winter. Can't miss the scenic spot if you go to the airport though. A great route from...

December trip into AZ and beyond

Here's a ride we did back 2012 that was a great trip. https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php/topic/155051-searles-southwest-tour-2012 Trip of a lifetime. I highly recommend Page, AZ. Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend are must see. Also consider Sedona, AZ. Here is a shot taken from the...

This Will Be Very Helpful to All Riders

Examine what is happening from the officer's point of view. You don't pose a threat to them as you are obviously outnumbered and they are ignoring any indications of being stopped. In order to report plates numbers, you have to put yourself in the middle of these idiots and create an additional...

7 Reasons Motorcycle Riders Make Better Car Drivers

Seems to me that this is a list of "why you should be better", not a list of "you are automatically better". Owning a bike doesn't qualify you as a better driver. But the skills you should hone to keep from being pancaked. Seen plenty of cages with HD stickers on them that certainly don't fall...

    Tech Weekend lX

There was no way to make it work yesterday. Family comes first. Make sure to hold the spring Tech Day on a weekend my wife doesn't work.

    Tech Weekend lX

Bumped back down to a game time decision. Brady-sitter fell through over the weekend and have not found a suitable replacement. Leaving him in the crib with a 1 lb block of cheese is apparently not acceptable. Wife never let me prototype the car seat carrier mount to fit in the top box mounting...

    2015 FJR Details?

I really hope that dark grey/black doesn't come to the US. Not sure I'll be able to afford that and the ensuing divorce I'll have to get for buying a new bike.

    Tech Weekend lX

I'll take Andy's place of standing around watching other people work. Looking better and better that I'll make this. Don't really have anything pressing to be done on the bike. Probably re-route some wiring if nobody needs any electrical help. Is there a list of projects that are being done?
