Hi Folks!

We will be making our annual trip to San Diego for Christmas with the parents, and I decided to ride there with my motorcycle. I will leave ten days or so before the family (whom will be flying), so I will have time to make a trip out east from SD. I know that it being December will limit my options and keep me at lower elevations.

Please give me some input on which parts of AZ (and maybe UT or NM) would be good for a trip in winter. Much appreciated!

Are you looking for places to see or just looking for roads to ride?
henwil do not trust this Traitor, he moved over to Fairyland from Arizona and is now high on Granola bars! https://www.azbeemers.org/azb-roads.php

AZ Beemers have put together this link so you can explore our wonderful Grand Canyon State, since it is cold above the Mogollon Rim: Stay South!

We AZ Beemers have also put together a listing of our favorite Eateries, ese! Ride to Eat - Eat to Ride! https://www.azbeemers.org/full_screen_map.php?var1=AZBeemer%20Eateries%20-%20Zoom%20In%20And%20Click%20On%20Push%20Pin&var2=eateries_14

https://www.motorcycleroads.com/Routes/Arizona_78.html You might be able to ride South Rim of Grand Canyon, double check the weather reports! Flagstaff can be icy!

Gregory: I am mainly looking for fun roads to ride (the less straight the better) and nice scenery along the way. Places to see are a welcome plus.

Beemerdons: Thanks for the great links!

Your favorite weather.com site will be your friend traveling in December but I suspect you will need to stay way south to avoid the snow and icy passes.

Yea, I'm thinking about riding back to Tucson for Christmas. The best route with the least weather will be I5 South.

OOPS!!! My bad. It should have been SouthWest.

"That's organic, all natural Humbolt Granola bars that I get shipped directly from OM." Uh henwil, have you been munching those organic bars from Old Michael! (no seeds or stems!) jes' sayin' and nuff said, Mota!

Wouldn't want to visit Arizona right now. They're all cocky because their semi-pro football team is doing well.(The problem with those Humboldt granola bars is that there's too much granola in them.)

henwil, it's cool that we've driven your thread into the ditch, right?

Go LEAFS!
Henry, when you're a day away from Phoenix contact me at either: 480-440-4666 or [email protected] I'll show you some nice roads in Maricopa and Pinal Counties ese! Mas Caminos y mas Amigos, Suerte! JSNS!

Good luck and happy riding Henry!

Better get your directions sorted out before you leave...wouldn't want to end up lost in the bayous!

henwil, here is some food for thought: Southern New Mexico would be free of snow and ice with some really twisty roads, we could ride up to Albuquerque and kick that goofy ass HotRodZilla - AJ right square in his apple sacks! jes' sayin' and nuff said, Arriba-Ai!

Here's a ride we did back 2012 that was a great trip. https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php/topic/155051-searles-southwest-tour-2012

Trip of a lifetime. I highly recommend Page, AZ. Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend are must see.

Also consider Sedona, AZ. Here is a shot taken from the Sedona Airport, which has a scenic overlook.
