I got my first FJR in summer of '06 - snagged a 2006 on which someone had to forfeit their deposit. I spotted it at the dealer as they were rolling it back out on the showroom. I walked over, said "mine", then made the deal, trading in my F4i (for which I was there picking up some parts.) Now...

In a single vehicle crash, barring weird road conditions, etc., the crash is *always* on him. And yes, don't ever use anything but what keeps you fully engaged in the ride for twisties. Highway pegs are for occasional-use leg comfort. "Complacent" is the right word. Glad you didn't die.

You actually trust that a dealer did a valve check properly, or at all? I'd start there. $.02

Does it feel smooth turning it by hand? Is there any play AT ALL in the wheel in any direction? Do you hear any noises while turning it? Or while riding it. Do you feel any "that was an odd bump" kind of things when riding it? If not, I'd say go for it. If anything is coming undone, you'd feel...
