How will the FJR hold up to some heavy loads?

I'm getting ready to do some 2up cross country touring on my 07 FJR. The plan is to use both my side bags for clothes food, and water. A large tank bag for electronics, handgun, phones, wallet, etc. Finally, I have an Aerostitch Motofizz Large bag, that will go on the rear behind my wife...

Fuel Economy and Smoothness without Compromise

I don't really follow a whole lot of what you're saying, but are you talking about one of these? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SjxfAjAyp5k

    CO Adjustments

Make sure you log your mileage from this weekend as well. I'm curious to see what this will do to the mpg's. In theory, you're adding fuel, so the mpg's should go down a bit, right? Also, did the accelerator pump do anything for the herky jerky off/on throttle problem? Thanks, Lucas

    9" tall Cee Bailey's - Opinions?

I'm 6'3", and with the stock windscreen, I get plenty of ventilation. I would imagine with that little stump of a shield, you'd get plenty. What do you have on your bike right now? Lucas

    Just the battery, or...?

It'd be best to get the volt meter out and start testing. Take a reading of the battery with the bike off, after it's been sitting for a couple of hours. It should be between 12.4 and 12.7. Then while still taking a reading, try cranking the bike. What does your voltage drop down to? Lucas

    FJR / BMW Indecision

If you're worried about costs with the BMW, I would run from it. Most BMW riders rely solely on their local BMW dealer for parts, work, and any other problems that might arrise. You're going to pay a premium to keep that fancy dealership afloat. On the otherhand, most FJR riders do their own...

    CO Adjustments

Hey Joe, couple of questions. First, are you going to try to do anything with the lopey idle when TP is at 0? Or can anything be done? And second, can anything be done about the on/off herky jerky throttle? I'm guessing the PCIII won't allow tuning for this? Lucas

Gearing felt TALL on my first FJR Ride

Bill is absolutely right. In my book, the FJR does everything well. And yes, it will get the groceries in a hurry.

Gearing felt TALL on my first FJR Ride

The FJR does not feel that fast, because it is a large, heavy, smooth bike. In reality, it should kill a stock VFR. Your VFR being 1 down in the front should be able to hang a little better, but the FJR should still be faster. I think you're being a little cautious on the throttle, which is...

Gen I Givi 46 Topbox Mount Options

Which rack did you pick up off of ebay? Is it a SR357? What color? I may be interested in taking it off your hands. Lucas

Adapt stock trunk mount to Givi SR-357 rack?

The easiest way would be to get a piece of 1/8" aluminum plate and attach that to the SR357. Then, take the stock Yamaha plastic plate and attach it to the aluminum plate. So, 4 holes to attach the aluminum plate to the SR357, and then 3 holes to attach the Yamaha plate to the aluminum plate...

New FRJ owner w/ stock bike, mods?

I've got an 07A Black Cherry Yamaha top case if you're interested. It has the factory bracket with it, but no backrest. You can always buy the back rest seperate though. Let me know if you're interested? Lucas

    Frankentank 2

That thing is unreal. With a theoraretical 45mpg, you could go 400 miles between fill ups. My truck can barely do that much. Lucas

Rider Rear-Ended in Dallas - Video

All I can say is "Holy ****!!!". Always remember the basic riding rules, IE. "SIPDE" I'm not blaming him, because it was the car's fault. However, he should have had an exit plan in the event that something like that happened. Always be prepared. He had a couple of options that could've...

    Front Tire Removal Question

Just remove the big bolt on the left side, loosen the pinch bolts, and the axle should slide right out. Lucas

    Windscreen for Gen II

I'd check fleabay, I think stock screens usually go for about 30-40. Lucas

    Does your windshield wobble?

I put a Yamaha touring screen on yesterday, and while installing it, I notice that my bracketry has some play in it. It's the black arms that raise and lower the screen. If I grab the screen at the top, and pull forward and backward, there is about 1/8" to 1/4" play in the arms. Is this...

    Got Her Home

The problem is, I use it every time I get on the bike. I've kinda gotten used to it. I'm thinking about switching to a givi E55. It's got more usable room, and looks to be a little more aerodynamic. Lucas
