About a 25 mile ride from the dealer to my house. All I can say is, what a bike. Very smooth and the grip shift was very easy to get used to. Very windy over here in Central Texas today, about 25 mph with gusts to around 40. Stable as a rock. :yahoo:

Congrats on the purchase, and get used to the wind. Down here in Austin, I've been getting blasted with 20+ gusts regularly for the past month. It seems to whip my bike around pretty good. I think it's probably because of the topbox.

Again, conrats, and have fun. Lucas

Never ride with the top box on unless it's needed. That sucker is like a sail on the back of the bike! It's not horrible but a lot smoother without it if you are riding solo.

The problem is, I use it every time I get on the bike. I've kinda gotten used to it. I'm thinking about switching to a givi E55. It's got more usable room, and looks to be a little more aerodynamic.

I rode my Triumph Tiger 1050 to the dealer as I was trading it in on the FJR. The wind was blowing me around on the Tiger but hardly noticed it on the FJR.

I'm 73 years old, Lucas, and been riding some kind of bike since age 14. Central Texas has been a desert since I don't know when. Hope we get some rain soon. Hope to meet up with you sometime. :)

I never ride without mine, either. Givi E52.

When I got it, I just didn't liek the looks of the Yamaha box, and it was also considerably more expensive. Turns out it's less useful, too, with an odd shape and very thick walls limiting its interior space.

Maybe after a few hundred thousand miles of motorcycle riding I'm insensitive to control feel, but hey I don't notice the top box effect and if you like it I say keep it on. Kinda ugly tho so except for trips mine stays off. Enjoy the bike its a wonderful machine.
