    CO Adjustments

[sigh] :) No problem. I do appreciate the offer though! I'm doing classes from 8-4 until Thursday, then off to Tampa on Friday, then back home to Syracuse Friday PM. There is an thread from last summer with a bunch of guys complaining of the same 1-2K rpm miss. I'll try reviving that...

    CO Adjustments

I'll be back home in NY by Friday night. :-( Any chance I can come out your way one night after work? I get done right around 4pm every night this week. It won't take very long to do, so I won't be taking up your whole night. PCM=Powertrain Control Module. The auto industry switched to that...

    CO Adjustments

No takers? I don't want to change anything on your bike. I just want to scope the injector signals. We don't need to lift the tank or anything. I just need to back probe a couple of wires at the PCM.

    CO Adjustments

I rode my bike about 400 miles with the TPS disconnected and the PCIII adding all the fuel I needed for acceleration enrichment. My bike ran like a Swiss watch, like it ought to. Everything was great until I passed a gaggle of pirates on their way back from Americade. The acceleration over 80...

    CO Adjustments

The raggedy pulses are extra ones that are used when there is a call for lots of extra fueling. The top trace does it also, just not in this particular spot. Today I did some more fooling with the bike. I disconnected the TPS, turned on the Accelerator Pump feature of the PCIII and cranked it...

    PC V ?

When I installed my power commander software it made a pwrcmdr folder on the C: Drive. Any file I put in there appears when I open new files. See if you have that folder, and put the new file in there. Joe

    smell gas

I'd check to see if fuel is leaking at the fuel line connector that you removed/installed, then double check the overflow hose. Make sure it is routed back where it came from. If you smell gas, you should b able to see it. Joe

    Fuel Injector sticking

I did know you were kidding. Mousing over the words is a cool trick, but I hadn't seen it until you pointed it out! :) Joe

    CO Adjustments

The 1-2K RPM miss has been driving me bonkers. It's enough to piss off the Pope! Last night I spent some more time diagnosing it, and like usual I learned a few things, and ended up with more questions than answers. Here is why it runs rough at 1-2K RPMs. The computer is adding extra...

    Fuel Injector sticking

As often as I'm wrong, of course I believed you. I just thought you'd appreciate seeing it first hand. As for the variation in pulses, It's not the case here. It's due to low screen resolution and sloww sweep speed of the scope. Raise the RPMs a little bit though, and there's some serious...

    Fuel Injector sticking

I was fooling around with my bike again last night trying to get rid of my 1-2K miss and I did a quick scope check of the injectors. I figured I'd post the results here to finish the question about SFI on our bikes. So here it is. Our bikes are definitely sequentially fuel injected. They...

Fuel Economy and Smoothness without Compromise

Thanks for the update. If you're looking for advice (I'm not sure if you are), I would suggest forgetting about, looking for variations in RPM to make it enter/exit cruise mode. If it is above idle and below around 6000 RPMs then allow it to enter cruise mode based on the other inputs. Just...

    Fuel Injector sticking

Well...either you went back and edited your post, or I just never read your posts very carefully! ;) :D JK, of course. This makes the second time I missed important info in your posts!! Joe

    Fuel Injector sticking

I guess I should check these things myself before I open my big mouth! A while back a guy posted that he wanted to install a computer on his FJR that gave him Sequestial Fuel Injection. He got lambasted, and banished to the NPERT quickly. Because nobody there happened to mention that the FJR...

    Fuel Injector sticking

Not true on our bikes as the injectors are all fired at the same time. Even if the bike was sequentially fired, it would really make very little difference at idle if you swapped the injector connectors. They all fire on a closed intake valve anyway, so having a few more crankshaft degrees for...

    Fuel Injector sticking

Don't forget to run a compression test. If you have a miss, and it's not spark, and isn't fuel (unless you have an injector control problem) then you defeintely need to check compresion on all the cylinders. If you want to find out of it's an injector control problem, can you swap the #3...

Fuel Economy and Smoothness without Compromise

That's very cool. I wish I had seen your eariler threads before buying a PCIII. Thanks for taking the time to keep posting your fuel mapping journey. Joe

    CO Adjustments

I know you're just kidding, but so you know, the PCM looks for high RPMs, Closed Throttle, and High Vacuum(Low MAP Sensor) readings to know that the bike is engine braking. Then it cuts the injectors off until any of those readings indicate it needs fuel again. It took GM almost 10 years to...

    CO Adjustments

I'm only adding fuel during low RPM acceleration, so I don't expect it to change much. I got my first 200 miles in today. Got 38 on this fillup, but one tank is hardly proof of anything. The only problem I have right now is if I accelerate moderately fast from under 2000 RPMs. It will still...
