    The Irony of Riches

I loved your mini-ride report. Pics are nice too... as I love to see (and ride) a FJR w/o bags. Your friend found found the secret to a happy life (and maybe happy wife) ... 'be happy with what you have' vs 'have to get stuff to make you happy'. My question is ... did you see a motorcycle in...

ECU flash for smoothness in 09 FJR?

Mambo, I am no expert... but it sounds a lot like my bad TPS Throttle Position Sensor. On the 2013 I have 2, 1 on the left side and 1 on the right. Since you can't reach the right side, most everyone finds success replacing the one on the left. Search for 'Throttle Position Sensor'. Many...

    Air Filter

This sounds like a valve check to me.... good for your piece of mind.... and a few shinned knuckles. I'll do the AF and the plugs this Spring.... along w/ the valve check @ 30k miles.

    Split: Off-topic about haircuts

I think of it like a bad haircut... I don't care much, because I never have to look at it (when I'm riding). FYI ... I bought the 2013 Stone Grey and think about the same thing.

BMW s1000xr ridden to the max

... Needs tires soon. Gotta love 'truth in advertising'. I loved the underwater shot! Wanted to see a fish go by in the background.

Bike Instability above 70mph on interstate

BGR , This concern was also big on the ST1300 and Honda said 'Don't ride fast w/ all 3 bags'. Common sense says it's the wind / buffeting getting all confused and sideways with 3 bags. It should be best w/ no bags, lower (smaller) shield, and stiffen tires and suspension. Short of the...

2018 ES Clutch engages late in lever release

Try adjusting all the way to #5... ...if you don't love it, ride for 500 - 1000 miles... and you will be 'used to it' now. YMMV

Shifting AE Smoothly and Hesitation at Low RPM?

Congrats on the new(er) bike! I know nothing about the AE... but my A model likes to be shifted around 4k or so. Any lower becomes clunky... higher works smooth. My concern is a low mileage, 10+ year old bike's tires. You say they are like new... but check the sides for a 4 digit date...

what is the highest mph speeding ticket you have had on a motorcycle?

The last story reminds me of my first ticket... I was in college (1980 ish) and riding my 1978 KZ 1000 during my summer jobs ( working in the kitchen at a Country Club). I was carrying a passenger (guy) between the CC party for employees, and the 'after' party at someones house. We might have...

    F**k Car Repair Shops!

Not my horse... but I have to mention Discount Tire in this thread. They will patch or plug any tire for free. They will rotate and balance (tires bought there) every 5k for free. And they always bring out a man with a torque wrench to finish each install. They won me over years ago.

    2019 FJR Details Released

Looks like they practice the KISS principle.... Keep it Super Simple (Stupid) .... old colors on a new bike. Zero net cost for another model year. Like I said earlier... inventory reduction strategy.

    2019 FJR1300

Or perhaps they take a year off to burn off some NOS inventory and to gauge the 'strength of the market'.

    Engine Didn't Grenade/Something Happened/And Final Report

So... is the moral of the story ... Carbon build-up can be a bitch! Use RFree or SFoam or Techron annually.

    DR650S, AKA Big Suzy

The DR650 also has a 'lowering bolt' built into the rear linkage. You can drop the suspension, maybe raise the forks, and get the silver (shorter ) kick-stand , and maybe not climb on using the pegs. It's a nice feature that's built into this bike (for free) other than the $40 kick-stand.

    Regular fuel vs Premium fuel?

Try this site for non oxy gas stations. Just punch your state and many choices should appear. YMMV

    What weight? Oil change!

    I mix 1/2 T5 and 1/2 T6 to make a 'blend of 10w40'. YMMV

Bike lurches forward abrubtly from N to 1rst gear.

My son has (my old) '03, and I have the newer Gen 3 2013. The '03 has a definite clunk when going N to 1st. Simple things first are ... Shift up to 2nd ... Hold in Clutch and blip the throttle... count to 3 and shift to 1st .... switch to synthetic 5w-40 oil ... bleed the the clutch fluid...

    Ivan's ECU Flash

The Dyno chart is always fun to critique... they all perform well. But the rider makes the biggest difference in these 4 bikes!

    Pilot Road 5s

I found the 'softer ' feel of the Michelins is aided by pumping in a little more pressure. If the max pressure is 42... try 42/42 for a set and see if you don't get higher mileage and less scalloping, etc. (I use 40/42) BTW, this seems to work with their car tires too... pump them up... and...
