    FJR Age Limit

They may be worried about the liability that comes from dip-sh.ts who bring in tired bikes and sue because the dealer didn't get them to run 'like new' for the $500 estimate. I hope to never need a dealer to work on my 2003. That's what friends on the FJR Forum help with!!!

    Seat repair suggestions?

You could add a cover ... like Alaska Sheepskin ... to add comfort and hide the hole. Or ... If you want a 'like new' set of seats I have them for sale in the For Sale section.

    ABS and Check engine lights

Make sure the sensor is correctly fitted BTDT ... The manual is your friend. Gotta line up the notch in the slot. I heard a terrible scraping once when I got the pads in wrong too. YMMV

Sold FJR1300 factory seat $150 obo

Like new factory seat fits gen 2, 3, and 4 FJRs. It came off my 2013 within 1000 miles, and has been stored indoors ever since. pick up in Minneapolis, or we can discuss shipping if necessary. Pics available by email as I can't seem to get them on here from my phone.

    Starter, relay or battery?

Like the pros said ... It 's probably the battery. This bike rarely breaks ... but tires, oil and batteries wear out. So... replace them as needed. YMMV

FJR's don't like dirt - let alone floods and ...

Some would highly disagree ... As always ... YMMV

    Hello from Minnesota

Looks like a Gem !!! Congrats on the prettiest color from 2003 and 2010! Mobil 1 is among the best synthetics (10/40+ = no worries) ) so I'd stick with it. Valve check, plugs and air filter all are due around 25k. Flush the brake and clutch w/ dot4. Ride it before you change anything.

Is it better to buy a 2012 than build up a 2006?

Bugman, As much as I agree with all the benefits of going to the 2012, you are just 1 year away from the Gen 3 2013 (which I own). Look @ the used market for a low to mid mileage (I have 48k ) 2013, and you may answer your own question ... is it worth it? The list of upgrades is long and...

Tis the Season for Battery Failures

I rode this last weekend with a bunch of FJRs @ a COG Rally in WI. We started @ 33' and snow, came home 3 days later (after 1000 miles) @ 45' and some sun. Everyone was running electric gear and some have heated grips too. My buddy found his battery dead on Saturday morning ... due to cold...

If you couldn't have an FJR what would be the next best thing?

I really enjoyed the R1250RT that I rented in Europe for 10 days to ride the Alps. It had an Akropovich pipe and sounded great... going around every switchback it was torquey and throaty! I would still miss the FJR above 6k rips, but the RT did a great imitation down low. It turns in...

    Planets lined up

Y, She's a Beautie!!! Looks just like my son's 2003 (but a lot cleaner) and boy are they FAST!!!

    Planets lined up

Y, Please fill me in.... I thought the FJR started in Europe in 2002, and landed in the US in 2003. Pics too please! Congrats on your new ride!

    Gen 3 or 4?

Ahamay, I don't know about getting it to Australia, but in the US we have Ivan doing flashes of the ECU. http://www.ivansperformanceproducts.com/ecu.htm The result is smoother shifts, better overall performance, a 3rd Drive mode (kinda semi-sporty) and eliminate the upper-end limit on CC...

What did you do to your FJR today?

The FJR is less top heavy than the C10 ... but if you are doing tight stuff , do it with 1/2 a tank of gas or less.

    I dropped her again.

Ditto twice!!! My new to me 2013 rolled forward (because I thought we were on level ground) and broke my left mirror and scratched the left plastic. I replaced them both @ my expense ($400+) and moved on. Now I always park her in gear (unless I'm in my own garage). YMMV

    Windshield movement normal?

FYI ... The OEM black plastic screws are designed to break under the pressure of a crash (DAMHIK). This may save a life or a limb during a get-off. If you choose replacement screws, don't use metal (or even stronger plastic) or you will have defeated the point of 'safety screws'. YMMV

    Could be Epic

Cool... 50 eggs are still a lot! Thanks for the great RR!!! I've seen half of these roads , but not thru your eyes. Enjoying it all over again!

    Looking to join the club

Congrats on your new ride!!! Pump up the tires (or replace them) , practice feathering the clutch, and look where you want to go. The FJR will do everything you want it too, just not the same as the MG. Take 1000 miles to get into the new ride before forming an opinion.

    Extremely low MPG

BBF1, I think you may be thinking too much about the bars. Ignore the first half of the tank. It's not accurate. Also, my first goal in buying a used bike would be to check out all the systems for maintenance, and remove extras that you don't need. Start by removing the PC111 and go back to...
