ABS and Check engine lights

Hello,
I changed the rear tire and went for test ride. Both ABS and check engine lights on. Disassembled to make sure there was no grease. The wire to the sensor seemed a bit frayed. When I ride, the gear on the dash flashes constantly.
Any ideas? Is that cord 2 wires?

Has to be the signal from the rear speed sensor not getting through. Make sure the sensor is correctly fitted, and the plate the sensor is mounted in, the spacer (I can't remember if there is a spacer) and the brake assembly are correctly fitted on the axle.

I don't like the sound of the cable being frayed, and, yes, it is two-core.

BTDT ... The manual is your friend. Gotta line up the notch in the slot.

I heard a terrible scraping once when I got the pads in wrong too. YMMV

Did you use any magnetic tools around the ABS sensor when disassembling the rear wheel? Likewise, the cable being frayed is a possible problem. I’ve had three FJR’s with ABS and had many rear tires replaced. Never have I seen any wear or damage to that cable. It is well fastened to the swing arm.
 
I'm sure the ABS topic is a hot potato. My 2010 began showing an intermittent ABS about 3 years ago. I tried to fix it, even working with a Yamaha dealer for "actual service" and advice. Spent some money, no change in ABS. And shrugs from the dealer. They were going to uplevel this to Yamaha Service, but I never heard back, and quit worrying about it. How many years did I ride before ABS came to motorcycles? I joke about putting a piece of black tape over the warning light. Decided to go ahead and put another 35k miles on it. I don't recommend this to anybody, however. And it is the first time I have copped out on keeping the 2010 mechanically/electrically fit. YMMV.
 
It gets frayed when you forget to tighten the screw and comes out. 150 miles into a trip down south It woke me up.:cry:
Bike still ran but had to get off the highway and find a hardware store that had metric bolts. Duct tape worked temporarily until I found a store.
