Linch pin sidecase mod - really necessary?

Pros: low cost 'insurance', easy to do, unobtrusive, Cons: given the low frequency of the 'problem', it's an unnecessary expenditure of money, time, and drilling. Being better acquainted with Mr. Murphy and his famous Law than I'd care to be, it seems like the Pros have an edge.

While I can't offer any help with the ramp thing, I'll help you eat some Pie in Julian (weather & schedule permitting).

Angels Crest and Big Bear in December

It is now Saturday a.m. and the local (L.A.) news just announced that Angeles Crest Hwy is closed from San Gabriel Cyn. to Big Pines Road. They didn't specify if it was debris, snow or washout. In case you didn't get the news up in the PNW, yesterday's storm was, by SoCal standards, pretty...

    Motoport visit

About this time last year Motoport ran a special: buy mesh Kevlar pants, get the liners at no charge. What a great coincidence - my old Joe Rocket pants were falling apart. I made the ride down to Motoport, met Wayne, got the tour, and Wayne helped measure me for the mesh Kevlar pants. (I'd...

What did you do to your FJR today?

Replaced a missing bolt in the front fender. So simple, even I managed to do it withou a trip to the Vocabulary Closet. I like to give my business to my local independent motorcycle shop (shameless plug for SC Riders Supply), so I looked up the parts numbers for the bolt and nylon washer and...

    Stranded in Seattle

I'm still not sure that this whole thread wasn't just a wintertime "let's teach the noobs, who will probably ask this within a couple months". Yeah, that's the ticket.

    My hydration system

Nice materials and adaptation. I was with you right along until the photo with that gorgeous Red Thang. I got a little distracted... what were we talking about ?

Angels Crest and Big Bear in December

We had a 'decent' amount of rain a few days ago, and are expecting more next Thursday & Friday. However, the storms have been bringing semi-tropical up from the SW and the snow levels haven't dropped. You'll probably get wet on your way down. If you hole up in SLO on Friday, Saturday should be...

    Battery Tender Plus

Costco is having an in-warehouse sale this weekend: $10 instant rebate = $29.99. No waiting for the Brown Truck - instant gratification! This isn't the BT Jr. It's the BT Plus High Efficency (listed on the BT website for $69.99) If you are like me - two bikes, sharing the Battery Tender with...

    New Windshield

Gary - That 50cc is still on the bucket list. I'm toying with the idea of doing it in Spring, April or May. My wimpy preference is for better weather and longer daylight hours. In my fertile imagination I see myself shooting for a 100ccc, with the option of bailing when reality smacks me in the...
