From what I've heard, that cubby just slows the bike down. Probably why the Liquid Silver model (sans cubby) is faster. Further proof is that my Wing has a cubby on each side and is a bit slower than the Silver Bullet (which is faster than subsequent models) :rolleyes: Then again, maybe...

I got mine (#276) delivered on July 31st, 2002. Picked it up the next day. I believe that first one in the U.S. was a red one, wasn't it?

I don't think that Klaus (the Wilbers guy) will be able to make it. I'm sending my shock in for a rebuild and a hopefully stronger spring this week and I suspect that he will still be working on my rebuild :lol:

I bought a new GL1800 from a dealer here in Denver. They had it shipped here from CA in a crate. Put it together and cleaned it up real nice, but after several washings the gooey stuff was seeping out of cracks and crannies. They said it was cosmoline. Whatever it was, it was messy. And...

Cosmoline - It'll go away or you can wash it off. I wouldn't be taking off 'foam' or you will probably be experiencing more heat. That's what the foam is there for, unless it's on something really hot, like the pipes. I added foam on my 03 to reduce the heat.

You could take the punkin out of a 1996-1999 Royal Star and put it on the FJR. Nobody's done it that I know of, but we used to swap with VMaxes. Other than that, I believe the 06/07 are geared higher than the 03-05 FJRs. Never could understand why anyone would want a 6th gear.
