    Anyone done it?

The bin-o-facts has this link: Clicky It describes the process pretty well if I do say so myself.

    Defective Wix oil filter

You beat me to it, note: From the Bin-O-Facts... Per ponyfool, although the Purolator number cross-references to Napa Gold 1365 (mfg: Wix), the gasket and the threads are nearly level with one another, thus when screwed on as far as it would go, the gasket never touched the engine, it stayed...

    90 Degree Valve Stems

That may work fine to check the air The benefit of the 90 Degree valve is to allow ease in adding air to the tire with less interference from the brake rotors.

    Soldering Irons/Guns

Something I do for home use, is make an outlet box with a dimmer switch: like this: Now you can control the temperature without an expensive soldering station.

Initiative to Remove dCarver as President of the CBA

if that's a motion -- I'll second it. All in favor?

    GPS question

I believe with the Zumo, the power management is different pending which cradle it is in. On the Car cradle, with the Zumo off on an unswitched power connection, the car will continue to charge the Zumo battery. On the motorcycle cradle, with the Zumo off on an unswitched power connection...

    Crash club Redux

Fencer -- good to know that you're ok. At least no permanent damage (unless the helmet didn't do it's job -- but who would know the difference? ) At least all is repairable. heal quickly young man.

    Farkle of the Decade!

Since there's only a few minutes left.... My vote is a write-in for the G2 Ergo Cam.

    Farkle of the Decade!

I guess the G2 didn't make the cut? I thought I followed the rules properly.

    Darn Grips!

When I added the G2 on the AE with factory grips, I used a flat thin solder aid: You could also use a plastic door trim removal tool like this: I did not damage the grip or heater using these, but I also used compressed air to balloon the grip after the glue was broken free. (I also liked...

    Reparing Your Ignition Switch

bin is already updated. also added a link to the pinned thread on the subject. Excellent job DailyCommuter! From the photo's, discussion, and my experience, I would lean toward ionbeam's thought that this is a cold solder joint. From the pictures, the connection is not a through hole...

    AE Redline shifts

You didn't indicate how you perform the shift at red-line. If you just pull the trigger (or foot shift), the clutch engagement is slow. If you time the shift with reverse-blipping the throttle, the engagement is much faster, and much reduced slippage!

    Empty screw hole

i must have missed this thead. the answer is here

    What's this threded hole?

Actually it does have to do with the AE shift, The photo TWN posted shows the shifter details, but there is a cover over the shift linkage. The threaded hole in question is used to hold the top pin for the YCCS cover.

Compressor accessory tip, (alt. use for foam ear plugs)

I have lots of compressor accessories, and all are on quick disconnects. Seems like lots of times when I pickup a tool, it's jammed with mud/dirt dauber nests or plugged. I've tried several things, but this is cheap, easy, fairly mistakeproof, and has been working good so far. The tip-- Stick...

    Zumo 550

I agree a little. I've had dozen's of GPS's -- all Garmin. If you're a gadget freek, or really want technical GPS, go for the 276/378/478. The user interface stinks, but the capabilities are great. To input an address you have to select a cursor, then paddle up and down the alphabet to...

    Question for AE Owners

I can't respond to the differences between my 2006 AE and current, but here's my $.02. I have the G2 ergo cam installed, and that smoothed things out just fine for me. After you get used to the system, it works just as naturally and easily as I could imagine. I've ridden motorcycles since...

    Well, I CRASHED again

First, glad that you're ok. Also, thanks for posting the incident especially with the gear report and pictures. It's really difficult to gage the effectiveness of safety gear, so your nice write-up gives many the opportunity to understand how that gear holds up in a get off. Thanks again for...
