    Swingarm bearing fun

Here's how I did it years ago w/pix--My hoist lifts it easily---Hee, Hee Lessons learned from rear linkage lube. My ’04 FJR1300 is about 1 year old and has 9000 mi on it and I have ridden thru many rainstorms here in the Hotlanta area. After reading the many horror stories of rusted/non-greased...

Getting this thing on the center stand is a _)*+(_*()*+)(U*!!!

O K, I’ve read all 3 above pages & nobody mentioned----Here’s a tip from my Goldwing days; When pressing down w/right foot, make sure that you have already twisted your body to the right, to face the rear. This way you will be pressing/lifting toward the rear (that’s the way you want the bike to...

    Not On My Bucket List

Now, Now, Don--You may have passed judgment too quickly. The 2 guys on sport bikes pulled over to the side & motioned us by before we passed them. Normally, I'm the one who pulls over & motions faster riders by. The speed limit on the Gap is 30mph and we never went over 35 on it. Going fast...

    Not On My Bucket List

Last week, spent 3 days & 2 nites riding the NC/TN twisties. Me on my ’04 FJR and 19 yr old grandson on my ’02 S3T Buell. Rode a little faster than usual staying with grandson who has been riding for a year. For the 1st time, I scraped both pegs numerous times. This is probably cause I usually...

    First tire change

A+on the above. Almost happened to me, but I did have blocks of wood under front forks. Next morning forks were setting on blocks & jack was all way down. Good thing I always strap the center stand tight to keep it pulled forward or it still might have went down. 1 1/2 ton jack went into trash &...

    Cornering confidence

I know what you mean & I share your pain. To me, I have thought all along that my '04 FJR is a hard bike to ride in the twisties. It will do it, but it has to be forced to ride smooth in the mountains. It's a very technical bike to ride. My'02 S3T Buell is a lot easier to turn & therefore a lot...

    Please help: numb right hand...

Unwind throttle spring, relaxed grip, Heli adaptors, Tacki Touring grips, & Throttle Rocker only helped a little. What really cured it, for me, was to change my level/slightly down wrist position to slightly up wrist position. Doesn't need to be up much, 5 degrees or less. It's not a normal...

Loose saddle bag locking latch screws

<SNIP> I went to the local Ace hardware store to buy replacements screws. <SNIP> FNG--Yes but aren’t you concerned that a thief will somehow pick your lock and remove the non security screws and steal your bag lock? The security screws are there to safe guard the lock, not the bag...

    What head light bulbs

I'm sure W C has probably checked most of them out as he recommended the Osram but-- Got 45,100mi on my '04 FJR & 1 of the hi beams burned out so time to do something. I installed a pair of Silvania Sliver Star Ultra H4s & they are outstanding. $50 at Pepboys with $15 rebate for the pair until...

Not another Break In thread, but a Break In Question

Hmmm, No MotoMan? What other documented procedure did you use? Stalling is usually from idle set too low. It is set to 1100rpm, right? Later, De

    Question of riding stance

the above and Throttle Rocker https://www.throttlerocker.com/ & center spring removal is a plus, but what helped me most is to have a slightly wrist up position. I normally ride w/wrist slightly down but throttle rocker helps me keep right wrist slightly up (5-10 degrees). Later,,, De

    How too...

Yep, ZZZZIP has the easy cheep idea. 1st roll the rear tire up on a 2X4 as this makes it easier to get the center stand up on a 2X4 or 2X6. Next, and this is important, tie the center stand forward with tie wire or ratchet strap. What would happen if your floor jack leaked down during the night...

    Another Clutch Problem

Yep, as above, they all can do it, but U can help it. #1 Be ready to go before U start it. With gear on & in neutral & clutch squeezed, start it & instantly, within a second or so, shift (hard & quick) into 1st. Ride off & keep it under 3k rpm for warm up till at least 1 bar lites. #2 While...

    frustrated with HEAD SHAKE

Wow, can't believe that I read all these posts. Seems like I've read them before, on most boards also. So, again, here's what I posted last time & I'll probably post it again next time. Just like front tire cupping, they all do it & it's supposed to. You can just feel it more in some than in...
