    Givi light kit instructions-WTF

Gezz, I only vaguely remember needing to attach wires to the light board. I remember griping about the wiring path from the board mounting location (it wanted to pinch the wires badly). Maybe I'm just forgetful, Sorry. I accessed my brake circuit under the seat (there's an old post about...

    Autocom Question

We're not bike-powered on our Kenwood TK3101's but our VOX controls all work fine. One note about that radio, if you turn the volume up too far on the Kenwood itself you will screw up the VOX control. None of us can figure out why but somewhere around 50% of volume is the limit for each of us...

    Givi light kit instructions-WTF

No, you're not being slow. Givi's instructions just suck. You are correct about the set-up being a spring-loaded contact. Actually there are TWO spring-loaded pairs, one below the box (punch-out disc you noted) and one at the clamshell seam of the box. I recall some trouble adjusting the...

    Credit Card offer

I have a balance on a 2.99% indefinite rate from my Visa company. The only trick is, one day late and they get to gouge me. I'm not late and it is a real deal.

    Griffith Park SideCar Rally -

Very cool but I'm sure I saw a picture of a FJR hack in Europe years ago. Maybe a Merlin sidecar? Sure there are Urals or converted airhead BMW's but both of those are slugs. I'd dig a hack some day, especially a modern take with a steerable outer wheel. Maybe when I'm ready to ride some...

Dangerous to fix a MC flat with a plug?

Well, I've got another anecdotal negative result for the Stop-N-Go plugs. My last flat I went through three plugs which would seal for up to 10 minutes before they started leaking. I said "screw this" and broke out the super-cheap sticky string kit. Worked great and I've added at least 1,000...

Another Bike Mag Delusters the FJR

Same problem as MCN magazine's review, the AE test model. How dopey is Yamaha's marketing department anyway? They need to get a clue.

    Autocom/ipod/noise help needed

I had the same issue with my AutoCom Pro7. Unfortunately their only advice was to connect direct to battery. Hello? That's how I told them I had it hooked up. Follow-up got me no new responses. Fortunately it works great on the 9V battery and rechargeable 9V's are available.

    Darwinism at work

Yeah, I've never understood how people figure they don't need to know how to swim. I don't mean like a champion backstroke but just so they don't have to fear falling off a boat or into a pool. I mean, isn't 75% of the Earth is covered by water? Even more stupidity was involved than alcohol!

    ipod locks up with Autocom

I've had no problem with it in my tankbag either.

    Inflatable Impact Jackets

I'd worry that the inflation rate is too slow. Airbags use explosive charges, much faster.

Man, Don't Know If I Can Watch A Second Time

tripletango, ABS would have kept the wheel turning which is a gyroscopic effect and might have not allowed it to step out as far as a sliding tire would have. JB, thanks for owning up to the event and posting about it. I dunno about it never happening again. I dropped a bike on wet leaves...

    Heated riding gear

PTP, the portable controller wires don't bother me at all. I'm plugged into the rear Jastec dual-socket just below my hip. Clipping the controller on my jacket makes the two lengths of wire behave just right (with the output to my liner running under the bottom of my 3/4 length Motoport...

    Heated riding gear

+1 Gerbings liner & latest gel gloves (thinner). The portable controller hangs perfectly on my Motoport jacket's adjusting strap. I'm only thinking of having the liner re-wired to power the gloves with a dual-controller. With a single controller, by the time I feel cozy in the gloves I'm...

    Audio Accessory Volume Control?

Or you can try one the RF remotes for the iPod. I have the iJet and it mostly works.

    Chatterbox v. Autocom

Me and my two riding buddies are satisfied AutoCom users. If I didn't already have a friend with AutoCom I would have tried the StarCom for better bang-for-the-buck. Chatterbox may have improved but they have a crap-durability rep from the old days to overcome.

    Air Hawk Seat Cushion

I like the extra size of the Medium because I can pull the front slightly up the tank to not "throw me forward" as much.

Man, Don't Know If I Can Watch A Second Time

From his description it does seem it could happen to anyone. But I'm not so certain he wasn't putting in too much steering angle. If his steering angle wasn't too much too fast then ABS would have helped there eh? I'm ginger-as-heck and try to be upright whenever I ride over wet plastic...

    Air Hawk Seat Cushion

Mine works too. I will eventually get a custom seat but I could see still using it now and then. Any change is good after too long in the saddle. I can't say if it is better or worse than a sheepskin (what my buddy uses in the same way). Renegade is spot-on, you have to inflate it correctly.

    DSL Broadband Service

I've got your #2 speeds at home. That is fine for me when I get those speeds. I experience many times when my effective speeds are about half that. That is not good and wreaks havok on my XBox Live gaming.
