    Superior Firepower

The SR-71 remains my favorite too. There's one often on display in Palmdale, viewed 30-50 feet away through a chain link fence.

    BUYER'S REMORSE ...

Absolutely zero remorse. Modifications do not equal remorse. The FJR is not perfect, just better than its competition. So far this is the best of the seven bikes I've owned.

    Mod to CeeBailey windscreen

Bump for a good cause! I'm a little nervous about whipping out the Dremel.

    Y.E.S.

I went, prepared, to my dealer. At the time I bought my bike they asked for the usual rip-off amount for Y.E.S.. I said "here's what D&H is selling them for, I'll buy it from you for $400, no more than that." They said okay. I didn't mind paying a few more dollars to a local dealer.

    Olympus sucks moist azz cheese

Eh. I think EMT's have more to be pissed about. Regarding motorcyclists, I figure it was just in poor taste.

    Waterproof liner for mesh pants

Cycleport. Expensive but well-made, IMO, and real Goretex.

    Cal-Sci Windscreen

I may have to try it. I have a CB +4+3, that I even added a Laminar Lip to. Made another slight improvement but not really what I'm looking for. I can also see over it in the full-up position.

    Mokos enough?

I got some scratches on my engine cover, depsite the Mokos, in my tip-over. Not a big deal to me, at least not enough to buy an aftermarket cover.

Two each 06 FJR 1300A models

Bert's wouldn't haggle one dollar when I was shopping for mine. Their FJR prices have always been insane.

    If you drop it...

I don't figure our FJR is especially hard to pick up but I was glad I had two riding buddies with me when I dropped mine. I had special circumstances. First, I had already injured one leg and lower back trying to keep it upright in my zero MPH tip-over. I thought I could save it so I tried...

    eBay junk FZ1 mirrors

Yep, one of my Emgo's snapped like a twig too. I asked the FJR community about it maybe a year ago and nobody had an EMGO-OEM repair solution. They use a funky flared post and I never found a tool that would re-assemble it. I went to a bolt and a stack of washers. Eventually I went back to...

    Dash Shelf?

ECM shelf user here but even if you buy another you might consider added a RAM mount. I mounted a RAM ball to my shelf for two reasons, one was to get my GPS closer to me but the big one was to reduce vibration (with their standard Z-shaped arm). I didn't like how much the shelf vibrates...

    Throttle Rocker

I totally recommend the old-style Rocker. The one they don't sell anymore because of a patent infringement with one of the other makers of similar gadgets. That other maker doesn't have the same width as the original Rocker (too wide). As mentioned above, it can be rotated out of the way in a...

    Turbo or Super Charger

Well, I'd agree there is no such thing as too much power. I had the first factory turbo charged bike (Honda CX500T). Twist the wrist, wait a sec or two, and get a kick in the pants. Even at full boost the FJR would leave it for dead. Note it had lower compression than a regular CX500 so...

    AutoCom Active 7

Bingo, on the special AutoCom cable for each brand (at least Motorola, Cobra, and Kenwood, maybe others?). My friends and I all have our radios lying flat in our tankbags. My rubber ducky gets slightly bent. Our effective GMRS range is about 3/4 mile in flat terrain. I assume we'd get more...

    AutoCom Active 7

If I had to do it all again I'd try a $100-for-two GMRS radio set from someone like Motorola. But... my friends and I all blew the budget and bought the Kenwood TK3101's that AutoCom recommends. Okay, they claim to be mil-spec ruggedized. And I notice CalTrans crews using them. But they...

Help Modifying Autocom 7 Headset Leads, etc.

Yep, dual jacks to match the custom earphone set I got. Does seem funky compared to a single stereo connector. I think you just need to figure out the signal lines (left & right) and the Ground or common and wire up a stereo earplug adapter appropriately (signal lines to the helmet speakers...

Help Modifying Autocom 7 Headset Leads, etc.

Sorry no pics of my final box but it is nothing special. I went to a 'real' electronic hobby store to locate parts but I think everything except the 7 pin connectors is stocked by Radio Shack. This particular earphone design is for separate left/right mono-style wiring so you'll need to modify...

Help Modifying Autocom 7 Headset Leads, etc.

Sorry it took me a while to get my diagram uploaded for display. Here is a combined volume control and earphone adapter for a AutoCom Pro7. The connector views are seen as if looking at the connector. Making one of these cost me about $15 with the largest part costs being the potentiometer...

    FRS two way radios

No idea if the Cobras work similarly to our Kenwood TK3101's (just about the most expensive GMRS radios but AutoCom recommended them) but we found that if the volume knob was turned up too high, past about half-way, on the radio it caused a severe distortion in our transmission. Very weird but...
