    Passport X-50 mounting location

I added the Top Gun ECM shelf. Very happy with it. My 8500 is Velcroed to it with industrial Velcro (no signs of deterioration in 1.5 years now). I have a RAM ball screwed to it for my GPS V (their standard z-arm style).

    I want a new drug..........

The hot motor used to be the K20-series Honda/Acura motor (as in the RSX-S) with or without forced induction. But I hear GM's EcoTec is becoming the motor du jour.

    I want a new drug..........

I've seen a couple on the road (hmm, both on Angeles Crest Highway) and stopped. The workmanship looks better in person than the photos can show. There was a recent article on them (sort of) in C16 magazine. If you've seen the Top Gear episode you'll know what I mean when I say, I want to be...

    AutoX, any others here?

Yep, started with a '95 Integra GSR. A co-worker got me into it. Went through a S2000 and a C5 Z06, all in our local "street tire" classes. A couple of years back I was the club rep for CASOC, one of the oldest auto-x clubs (pre-dating the SCCA) and an instructor in our regional training...

    Stator Interest?

$116-ish would be dirt cheap for the benefit, if it turns out to be as real as claimed. Then you guys just have to post a monkey-see monkey-do telling me how to swap it...

    Go Fast, Turn Left

IMO it is because of better visibility through the turn, all other road conditions being equal. According to my theory it should be the opposite where they drive on the 'wrong' side of the road.

    New Tire Or A Plug

If I ever see you, you can have one of my sticky strings. Boy, are those hard to separate from the so-called non-stick sheets! I'm just disappointed in my Stop-n-Go kit.

heated vests vs. heated jacket liners

I've got the Gerbings liner and it rocks. No wind comes up from the bottom (there is an elastic gather). With the expensive power control you are not 'wasting' any electricity (not pulling full average draw at lower settings) and I haven't had a problem on the FJR yet. I considered Widder and...

    Timeshares??

My wife convinced me to buy into Worldmark/Trendwest. I'm not regretting it because it does force me to take vacations (the use it or lose it thing). It is a points system and they have resorts in a bunch of places (most or all have kitchen and laundry facilities). Their location on Maui was...

Petition to stop cell phone use in automobiles

Okay, I'll agree child seats should come with child-sized gags then. Oh yeah, and parents should use bungie-cord leashes on 'em in public. :)

Petition to stop cell phone use in automobiles

Yanktar, the research I mentioned earlier claimed phone conversations as different than talking to a passenger because the passenger picks up non-verbal cues about the driver's need for attention to the road. The conversation is more easily and naturally suspended versus phone behavior.

    FJR throttle delivery?

Madmike, "best technique" doesn't always meet "real world." When you over-cook an entry do you just coast through the rest of the turn? My FJR's throttle is very sensitive in the off-to-on transition (more than other bikes). I have the recommended amount of cable slack so we're talking...

    mirrors

I've thought about adapting bicycle mirrors, tiny circular mirrors put close to your eye, to my helmet. Someone sells such a device but they look like alien antennas. I worry about folding the mirrors ever since I broke the press-fit system of cheap Emgo mirrors.

Petition to stop cell phone use in automobiles

I'm all for ticketing distracted drivers but I'm not in favor of a "cell phone ban" of any sort. FWIW, most proposed and implemented laws still allow hands-free cell phones and research (in Japan IIRC) shows the distraction impact is nearly the same as using a regular cell phone. My new car...

    Battery Options?

Yuasa may well be the leader in bike batteries but this month's MCN magazine mentioned (again) sudden failure associated with some of their batteries (some internal connection breaks and you're instantly screwed). May be rare but it'd suck if it was mine or yours. The WestCo maintenance-free...

    New Tire Or A Plug

Just to add to an old thread I found by searching, my local shop also refuses to patch my FJR's rear tire on principle. Grrrr. They're not even trying to sell me a tire, just their honest policy. I don't trust the Stop-n-Go I have in there now (took three tries to get it to hold air, each...

In case you want to go INSANE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I though CF wheels for the seriously hard-core?

    Gerbing's Heated Gloves

I've recently got the new G3's. I'm not feeling anything on my knuckles but there are some other spots I'm not sure will be happy on long rides like the tips of my index fingers (TBD). Maybe the wiring is a little random in location?

    2006 International Accessories for FJR1300

The City cases are interesting. BMW offers City lids for some of their cases to narrow 'em up just like this. Every inch counts when splitting but our mirrors are still a bit wide.

    BROKE A FASTENER

My local auto parts store had a selection of similar-sized fasteners. Wasn't cheap-as-dirt but but had to be cheaper than my dealer's price.
