Huge Mud Slide 5/21/17 Big Sur

Thankfully not as Kirk Creek Campground (nice scenic overlook) is just across the street from the Nacimento-Ferguson Road. The Mud Creek slide is actually about 9 miles south (as the crow flies) of the Kirk Creek Campground or about a mile south of the little hamlet of Gorda. Still a bummer...

    Nicky Hayden

That's sad news. Saw him race at Laguna Seca in 2006, what a talent. Ironic all the times he's ridden to the edge of control out there on the track and he's seriously injured on a pedal bike, prayers sent.

*SOLD* Clearwater Glendas for sale $199

Glendas have been sold, thanks Pista. Thanks to Brodie and SM for the comments and regarding their effectiveness as recognition lights, I know they have saved my bacon more than once.

    Toll Road payments advise please.

Rog, we took a trip back east this past fall and paid cash on the PA turnpike, in NY state and other eastern seaboard states. Only issue we ran across was in Houston, TX where the toll road only took pre paid passes or a FastPass (not the Disneyland one;) so we ended up taking frontage roads as...

Trailer Build - hopefully in improvement to my current one

WTF??? If you can appreciate how much work went into a project like that, then show some appreciation for all the work that went into a project like that and keep your negative opinions to yourself. Geez.....

    FJRONAMISSION

Like Russperry, the Boss and I met Brian at the Bodega Bay gaggle when the Wheatie/Airboss clusterfeck rolled through town. I sat next to him at the Spaghetti feed that Ms. Tyler (thanks again) put together and chatted extensively, making more noise at one point than the Papa Chuy/OM/Tyler...

YFO 2017 Yosemite Group Ride Planning Thread

Monitor pass (Hwy 89) is open as of April 29th. If you like white walls as scenery, this is your road! Riders using Kit Carson Pass (Hwy 88) can connect with Monitor via Markleeville and end up on US 395. Multiple climate zones traversed on Monitor from alpine to above tree line, neat ride for...

Trailer Build - hopefully in improvement to my current one

It turned out very slick, double the Pieman like. I might have missed it in the thread, but did you figure out what the total cubic ft. capacity is? Also, is the plunger switch next to your wiring panel for an interior light or perhaps alarm system?

*SOLD* Clearwater Glendas for sale $199

Clearwater Glendas for sale. These are takeoffs from my Gen I blue beauty from a few years ago before I sold the bike, that have been sitting in a box, waiting to be installed on my dual sport. I'm riding mostly dirt and would probably "prune" these off on something if I put them on my Beta, so...

    took one for the team

Ray, sorry to hear this, but glad you and Patty are ok. We got a bambi stopper from Buckstop bumper just up the road from you in Prineville. Luckily we haven't used it (yet), but have come close more times than I care to. Really glad you weren't on two wheels then!

    Women are Better Financial Planners

No reaction from the wifey when I read this to her. Must be common knowledge among women, so I guess it's the guys that need to figure this out.

My new toy. Quicker than the FJR?

Well.....We were observing a number of successful crossings and just when I thought it might be a good idea, a guy fell off about 10' from the end, planted his front tire in the muck and got hit in the back by his 275+ lb. KTM. The local EMT's jumped up to offer aid, but he got out of the water...

My new toy. Quicker than the FJR?

Dual sports are the bees knees! I spent yesterday on my Beta with my son, a buddy and 350 of my closest friends riding in Carver's back yard. We rode in the Penguins Annual Hi-Mtn. Dual Sport ride https://www.penguinsds.com/ It rained for about the first hour or so, then the sky cleared and...

    Helmet Guardian

Another vote for the Townsend brackets. One plus is when only hanging one on the left side, with the bike on the side stand, the helmet "blends" in with the side case, making it bit less conspicuous.

    Exskibum age alert

I'm not quite coherent ($5 word, Rich likes those) enough right now to type anything witty so just I'll just recycle this year old thread, which will accomplish two goals. Recognizing Rich for the Oracle that he is around here and secondly, pointing out that you youngsters need to stick close to...

This guy can really ride a Harley

My guess on his drivers license only the organ donor box has been checked as I doubt anyone would want his brain as obviously there are a few cells missing. ;)

To repair or not ? -- UPDATE

Rog, I have a pair of Hallman MX boots from the early 80's that are sooooo comfortable,(never say never), that I'll never part with them. Protection isn't up to par with the newer models, but for slow speed trials type riding, they're the best. So yes, resole and keep em' going!

2017-02-19 - A silly little local ride to see how Anakee Wilds handle the dirt

Sounds like you had a nice ride, but I'd steer clear of that La Grange place. Spend too much time around there and you're liable to end up retiring, riding a dirt bike and shaving infrequently. DC, where's the dirt pics? You do know that pulling off on the shoulder to snap a pic won't cut it...
