    Local Bike Shops

The Tire Stop in Boulder Co. will mount tires even if you did not purchase them there. The Bob owner is a Harley guy who got tired of getting jerked around by shops so started mounting bike tires. They do a good job. Call first 4727 Broadway St # C Boulder, CO 80304 (303) 449-0581

    Info on Chromeit heat shield

I did a sort of lazy Chromeits fix. I used a piece of aluminum angle that was the correct size. Cut it to fit and match up to the vents that are through the frame. Seemed to work pretty good and did not take but a few minutes.

    Thinking Bout Durango CO

If you want to ride I would not use a base. I would ride the south west corner of Colorado and stay a different place each night. Best ride I have ever had were there. Take a look at a map and pick a loop that goes over grand mesa, through the east side of the Black Canyon and maybe down as far...

Add another tick fix to the pile

"I'm not sure what the process is, but he said that there may not be a lot left of the guide once they remove them." Seems like a strange comment. Any decent machine shop would just put the head in an oven then pound out the guides. Does not damage them. It just takes one of these.Valve guide tool

Lake Erie ferry crossing: Strapping down FJR

It seems every ferry is a little different. On the ferry in Alaska the tie down locations were spaced for much larger vehicles so the Ancra type ties were to short. I used them combined with some large chains that were available. Looked pretty weird but it worked. You may want to take along...

    Dual Sport Adventure riding

I just sold my FJR and bought a 950 Adventure. I bought it in Flagstaf Arizona and rode it home to my home in the mountains above Boulder Co. 830 miles in 15 hours. High temperature for the day was 55. Low was 31. I am completely impressed with this bike. The previous owner had cut down the...

    Bike Transportation

Shipping motorcycles back and forth to Europe has become pretty common but buying one in Europe and shipping it back could bring on lots of problems. I think they are much cheaper in the US anyway. There are a ton of companies listed on this site or just do a google search on motorcycle...

Who is the funniest fu#%$cker on the FJR Forum?

One of the sadest days in my life when I heard Natalie Wood drowned. Put me right back to Ginger or Mary Ann.

You guys are way into the violation of rule number 4.

    K12

I think it is sort of embarrassing for whoever assumed he was talking about a K1200s. You guys must have short memories. The bike that the FJR was built to compete with was the original BMW K1200. The one that only had 135 HP. So you guys started calling this guy a liar. I think some serious...

    Turned 100k

That motor definitely needs to be autopsied. It had to be a valve though. It would also be fun to build an FJR and find out how much more can be gotten from one. I can't believe no one has built one up yet.

    Dirt Bike Tour

There are a couple of places in Moab Utah that you can either just rent bikes or do a guided tour. Not close to Florida but one great place to ride dirt. There is a lot of information on this site. https://www.advrider.com/

    Beginners bike??

While I was waiting on my FJR to show up I bought a 650 nighthawk. It is the most low maintenance bike ever. Hydraulic lifters, shaft drive and for a mid 80s bike it was not to slow. I put several 1500 mile weekends on it. I only paid $1000 for it. had to rebuild forks and brakes but it was a...

    Front Tire Wear

My fronts and rears always wear at the same rate. I live in the mountains in Colorado. The only time I had a rear wear faster was on a trip driving interstate. I get almost as much milage out of the tires on my FZR 1000 as on the FJR. It weighs 100 # less.

    Suzuki DL series

I have been looking at the DL1000 myself. I think the answer depends. If most of your riding is at sealevel and one up the DL may cover all the bases. If you sometimes ride in the mountains and want to be able to pass two up or cover 600 miles before lunch you may still want a FJR. I was...
