What Bike for a 16 year old

I think ABS is a great safety feature, especially for new riders. So, of the bikes on your list, I would recommend the Honda CBR 250r with ABS. Almost every new rider drops their bike. But, if you have the budget, I don't see any reason not to get a new bike for your son. Plus, the little...

    volume of side bags

I'll never understand why this happens in every forum I visit. Newb asks a question. Long time member goes on a rant about how the question has been asked and answered before. Why can't the newb just be politely directed to the answer and the thread be allowed to die quickly?

    2011 Kawasaki Ninja 1000

I actually was going to buy a Ninja 1000. I took one for a test ride last summer. It is a great bike. However, when I checked into insurance I changed my mind. I must have inquired with a dozen insurance companies. The cheapest insurance I found cost way more than I was willing to pay. I...

Seat Opinions other then Russell seats

The Spencer seat mod might be worthwhile. It costs about $75+shipping for the "LD" upgraded seat. I found the comfort level much improved on my Bandit after I had it done. I have 0 miles on my FJR, but I'll definitely send the seat in if I decide I don't like it...

    FJR vs Bandit 1250

The bike was delivered earlier today! I sure hope we get an early spring this year!

    2010 or 2012?

Even with the $900 in fake dealer fees, it isn't a bad price. However, I checked the BBB website and they got a "B" grade. I'm pretty sure a dealer has to suck pretty bad not to get an A+ from the BBB,

    2010 or 2012?

When I was shopping, I got a quote from the dealer that has the 2011 advertised for $10,699. It is brand new in the crate. The out the door price (not including tax and other state fees) is $11,600.50.

    Does your other 1/2 ride?

I voted 90-100% as there was no option for 200%. My wife puts on at least twice as many miles as I do. It helps that her commute is a 70 mile round trip and my commute is 0 miles.

SW-Motech GPS holder for 06+ FJR

Is anyone here using the SW-Motech GPS holder on their GenII FJR? If so, I'd love to see some pics and hear how you like it. I hate to start another GPS thread, but I haven't been able to find anything using the search function. Thanks!

    FJR vs Bandit 1250

Well, I take back my "the dealer can suck it comment". They finally got back to me accepted my counter offer! I'm paying for the bike on Saturday and they will be delivering it to me on Wednesday. I don't think I'm too worried about not test riding the Concours before deciding on the FJR...

    FJR vs Bandit 1250

Yep, I've checked out the Cycletrader listings. Last week, I talked with a salesperson from a dealer in Florida. Even after paying for shipping, I would save about $250 over the best deal I've found locally. However, I don't think I really want to buy a bike unless I can personally pick it...

    FJR vs Bandit 1250

Well, the dealer I was working with hasn't bothered to take the time to respond to my counter offer. So, I decided they can suck it! You would think that in the middle of winter they would be more responsive. I'm taking is as a sign that I really need to wait until spring and test ride a...

    FJR vs Bandit 1250

Thanks for the comparisons everyone. I decided to go ahead and buy the FJR. I'm working with a local dealer and if they come through with the price I want, I'll own a new 2011 FJR by the weekend. It is probably crazy to buy it based on a test ride from a few years ago, but I've wanted one ever...

    FJR vs Bandit 1250

I'm seriously considering buying a leftover 2010 or 2011 FJR. I test rode a gen1 a few years ago, but ended up getting a Bandit 1250 as I wasn't able to find a good used FJR and didn't have the funds for a new one. Anyways, my Bandit 1250 is now my wife's bike. Last summer, I talked her into...
