volume of side bags

Does anyone out there know the volume of the fjr's side bags? Thanks
Warning: this is a rant (I delete easily half of what I write before posting. This is a good thing :D )

Questions such as this one baffle me. Perhaps because, like Ricky on Trailer Park Boys, my brain doesn't work like other people's.

How does knowing the volume of the sidecases affect ....anything? I know I can pack a s**tload of t-shirts, jeans, cosmetics, computer, ETC into mine and live out of them - plus the topcase - for 3+ weeks. Longer if I ever get the opportunity. When I can't fit everything I (think I) want or need, I start jettisoning. The fact that each sidecase holds about 30 litres means diddly squat to me.

That being said, the same question was posed and answered in November. And in THAT link, there's a link to the treasure trove that is the Forum's Bin o' Facts (this makes for a great Bookmark ;) )

End of Rant

Happy Trails

Good answer MEM...What I wanted to say, just a lot nicer. No offense Danarielle, but I guess like MEM, I have no idea what it means when a bag holds 18 liters. I don't really care so long as it will hold enough stuff to get me through. So...A single side case will hold a case of beer, or a fullface helmet, but not both at the same time. The two cases will hold enough jeans, shirts and undies to last a good long weekend, or they will hold your jacket and armored pants...Depending on how you pack stuff.

How about a full face helmet full of beer?

NICE!

Just make sure the beer's well padded - or it's in cans.

Don't ask me how I know :glare: (I'm holding yamafitter responsible :p )

I'll never understand why this happens in every forum I visit. Newb asks a question. Long time member goes on a rant about how the question has been asked and answered before. Why can't the newb just be politely directed to the answer and the thread be allowed to die quickly?

If I can get a helmet full of beer to stay in my case, do you have any idea what that would mean??? That would mean my helmet would be waterproof and probably a lot quieter than it is now!

I'm glad Intech is so infatuated with alcohol at 0830. Makes me think he's up to no good!

So, being a FNG and all, am I understanding y'all correctly that I'm supposed to fill up my FF helmet with beer and then put it in the side case? Which side case? Surely the addition of that much weight will impact handling.

Does the brand of beer make a difference? The specific gravity of Yeungling is much higher than that watery tripe called Bud Lite! Surely, one must take all these critical details into consideration.

MEM -- I agree with you that knowing the volume in cc's, liters, cubic ft etc does not mean a great deal.

The reason I was asking was that I have a friend with an old guzzi -- a 1998 Centauro -- please forgive him -- who is thinking of purchasing after market bags, trunk etc. plus hardware and I said he should consider among other things (handling etc) how big the bags were -- and I wanted to let him know how large the fjr bags were.

Anyway, thanks for the reference to the earlier discussion, I'll take a look there.

Fair enough - I guess.

I should be taking my mom for groceries instead of perpetuating my rant

<deleted> ;)

I'm outta here !!

Looks like the FNGs are gettin' a little uppity! Gonna have to have us a lynchin'!!

Mary Ellen, you get the rope!!

The "newb" WAS politely directed to not one, but two, links with the info he/she was looking for.

This is a pretty easy site to get around. A quick look at the way it's organized would have have led him/her to the Bin o' Facts, where he'd get, probably, everything he / she wants to know about the FJR.

(and I thought my rant was over :( )

All very good points...as a FNG, you are to be commended. :clapping:

Careful here....wheaties is an "FNG Slayer"...

He'll lull you into apathy with what appear to be kind, supportive comments. Telling you "what a wonderful job you're doing integrating into forum...", etc.

Then he'll strike like an amped-up cobra, leaving you for dead, gasping for breath.

Personally, I'm with wheaties!
