Parts For Sale SOLD: STS Harness for Gen II FJR1300 (one only) $10 plus shipping

I made harnesses for Gen II bikes which have the swithched power in the 13 pin Sumitomo connectors. I don’t have first-hand experience with Gen III models, but I recall reading about it in another post. That said that power had to come from elsewhere for that installation. I would try tapping...

Key won't come out of gas tank lock.

I haven’t had a severe issue like you descibed. There were a couple of times when I had to push down on the gas cap with my other hand to fully lock it while turning the key and was able to remove the key that way.

Anyone have AIRSOFT PELLETS in their tires?

@MR05DODGE This is a very old thread whose topic has been beaten to death in forums over the years. Are you sure you want to revive it?

Drive train "crashing" when engaged on a cold engine

@Dazza if you find a solution that worked for you, please report back to the forum. I am sure that someone else with the same issue will appreciate the advice.

Drive train "crashing" when engaged on a cold engine

All of the above are good suggestions for minimizing the initial “clunk”. @Dazza I have to ask - do you normally park your bike on an sight incline (driveway, etc.)? If so, it is possible that all the slack between the gears, u-joint, and driveshaft is taken up by rearward pressure. When you...

    2018 FJR key blank

@Dan Cooper Great suggestion! It never occurred to me to do that. Going to the locksmith tomorrow. I can easily mark one side of the key to identify which side I need to insert into the ignition. Thank you so much! RiderJoe

    2018 FJR key blank

“Lucky me”, I bought my ‘06 with a replaced ignition switch, so now I have two keys for the bike. One for the ignition, and one for everything else. This allows me to ride away with an unlocked passenger seat, side case, or gas cap. 😀 Fortunately non of that happened - yet.

Cam Chain Tensioner...anything else while I am in there?

Maybe a throttle body sync (TBS) check and adjustment can be done too if you have access to a manometer. (After everything else is done, of course.)

    New to me 2006 FJR

Only 1200 miles? Great find! She is a 17-year old newborn! 😀

    Brakes failed

I agree with the previous assessments, as the same happened to me in the past. The only thing that I can’t inagine is why would both (front and back) systems fail at the same time. That was not what I experienced. The OP stated: In any case, it is advisable to flush the brake lines and fill...

    Hello

Hi Dan! Welcome from Southern California! If you take good care of that bike, you might even see 200K miles on the odo, not just 100K. Some forum members here rode their bikes past the 200K mile mark. RiderJoe

    2006 Bulb Types

@trepetti , if your goal is to have brighter brake lights, and not necessarily to save a few watts, then you might consider adding a set of B6 LED brake lights to the stock ones. I added a bar from Denali to my ‘06, but a lot of other ones are available too. No issues with the ABS light, and the...

    Just bought my 1st FJR

I find it really odd that ‘06 FJR owners (new or existing ones) are given different answers in the US. I am not sure if state laws play into that, but NHTSA recalls are a must to fix - as I understand. I may be wrong, but this is what my experience was with the my bike’s recalls: I live in...

Cardo Bold and Sena 50S questions

@dcarver , I am using a Cardo PT Bold, so I can’t speak for Sena units. As @saread mentioned the Cardo comms attach to its speakers using a 3.5 mm plug. So that gives you the option to to use wired earbuds in place of the headset, or - if you want - you can also attach a small BT transmitter to...

Both headlights, at the same time?!

@keithq Glad you found it and was able to fix the problem - at least partially. Good luck with the other stuff, and hopefully the heat will subside so that you can work on your bike for more than 5 minutes at a time. :)

Both headlights, at the same time?!

@keithq curious minds (like mine) would like to know what you found to be the problem.

    FJR Forum Decal design

I am with @two wheels and others on losing the top box. It doesn’t come with an FJR anyway. If we want to add accessories, then we can add aux lights, backrests, GPS, etc. Keep it simple, IMHO. @harper ’s suggestion is good. Perhaps a larger Yamaha logo screened back behind the bike (w/o the...

First big girl ride for the wife.

I agree. If you are not riding alone. The OP’s video above is a good example for the reason. I had a wired rider-pillion comm with my wife as a passenger for many years. I preferred her to tell me that we needed to stop instead of her banging on my back (a universal sign for wth-????), and I...

Welcome from So. California! I agree, Utah has amazing roads and scenery. I have ridden there a few times.
