    I want an R1

I seriously doubt Yamaha will ever make a better looking R1 -> than the red '05. Newer R1's may end up getting a bit faster, but they won't be any better looking! :D

    swapped bikes with my brother

Off subject but Damn! That Duc 1098 is a work of art! I'd love to try one someday. :P

The FJR is my dream bike.

Wow, you are definitely head-over-heels about getting a FJR! I can't blame you. I was excited about getting my '05, then later my '07. Suggestion; a slight compromise - consider getting a well used, but well cared for FJR. There are several of them out there. And as your piloting salary...

    The FJR can't cruise

I'd talk your HD friends into taking a FJR test drive. Then all your friends would be on a FJR. Problem solved! :D

Bike fell while on center stand

I'm curious to know how your bike fell while on the Center Stand. Did the stand break? Did it tip over while parked on soft ground?

    06 vs. 08

I'd tell them to knock off at least $1K off the '06 and pay the taxes. And before you contact the dealer again, do some research on ebay first (current and sold '06 FJR's), so you can show the dealer you can easily beat their price. You'll have two things going for you. Most people (like you)...

    Is FJR right for me?

A FJR will definitely meet your two requirements. The Gen II FJR's ('06/7/8) have a bit larger stock windshield, although after-market windscreens are everywhere for the Gen I's models. I've owned two FJR's. No vibration to speak of.

    GPS Sound

I have the audio feed from my Garmin GPS (276C) plugged into my Autocom Intercom unit. The Autocom intercom feeds the GPS audio source, (as well as MP3 & radar) to the Autocom helmet mounted noise canceling headset/mic assembly. Works nice.

To AE or not to AE

My first thought is, don't let your friend steer you into a FJR unless you want one. There's lots of bikes out there that you might like better. But if you've decided the FJR is for you, and now you're just pondering the AE vs A issue... I was in the same boat a couple of months ago. Traded...

    Would you buy a "Pre-Owned" 2005 FJR?

I owned an '05 for two years. Great bike. It never 'ticked' or had any other technical problem. Mine had ABS, although (luckily) my ABS circuitry never had the need to engage. Nice feeling to know it's there though! My only reservation would be, under what conditions, temperature wise...

    Decision time.....08?

Had an '05 and couldn't take the heat anymore. Traded it for an '07 and haven't had a single complaint. What fuel problems? SR-71

    Givi Vs Yamaha

I recently installed a Givi E52 box on my '07. I used to own an '05 with the Yam Box. The E52 Box definitely allows the passenger to lean back, where the Yam box didn't. But I won't recommend ordering the Givi Backrest or your passenger will be sitting nearing straight up (and the backrest...

What I Learned About The 07 Fjr By Reading All Posts Back To July 1

Perhaps a prior posting, but the FendaExtenda farkle was helpful on my FJR. (I didn't like the Throttle Meister.) SR-71

PDI - What does the dealer do?

I was surprised to see the front wheel had to be installed too. Maybe I better go check the torque on those bolts! :D Perhaps they were able to make the overall crate shorter with the front wheel shipped disconnected. I can't describe exactly what's involved with getting a FJR ready from...

You can get to the edge of the tire

Looks like you're making full use of your tires! :drinks:

    Any FJR's in Hawaii?

First Hawai, now Iraq? That really does suck! 10 years in the military was enough for me. Good idea on the sale. Get a new FJR when you get back! Good luck & be careful!

    A 60 or 70% Scale FJR?

"a Ninja 500 makes about 50 RWHP" - Mark Interesting. I'm not so sure about that. Is that your guess, or an actual spec you know about? If I were guessing, being a non-fuel injected engine, I'd guess more like 40-45hp at the crank and around 30-32RWHP. Just curious, have you ever driven one?

New C-14's for sale, but no FJR's?

Here in northern Virginia, my dealer had two on the floor; A and AE '07's. The North Carolina dealer I ended up buying my '07A from, just had one on the floor. Your salesman's interest in seeing a FJR for the first time doesn't surprise me. I think I may know why some dealers are...

    A 60 or 70% Scale FJR?

A 500cc Ninja "dangerously underpowered"? You've got to be kidding. - Mark Nope, I wasn't kidding! Well... at least the Ninja 500 my wife and I test drove during our process of finding her a bike. It was a one year old used Ninja 500 (2004 model), with fairly low miles and looked to be in...
