    are you a moto camper?

I have been using a 3-person tent for years, with my preference being a tent with 2 vestibules. I like to use one vestibule for my entrance and the other one for storing my boots and camp chair overnight (nothing worse than having a bunch of morning dew on your chair to sit on in the COLD...

    are you a moto camper?

Here's a photo of me and my "stuff" during a recent ride from Minneapolis to Oregon and back. We camped 5 nights out of the 17 days we were on the road. The mighty FJR can handle all the weight I care to strap on it and never complains about it! YMMV

    Physics of Cornering...and Recovering

Many moons ago I attended a CLASS School by Reg Pridmore (winner of the AMA Superbike Championship in 1976, followed by 1977 and 1978). He suggested putting weight on the inside foot peg to "body steer" the motorcycle. At one point in the class, I got to sit behind Reg as he circled the track...

Tall Rider & Wind Buffeting? - 2nd Gen

I actually ordered 4 feet of the stuff, but ended up cutting about 10 inches off. I used the cut-off piece on my son's Ninja short shield.

Tall Rider & Wind Buffeting? - 2nd Gen

The best thing that I have found to help quiet the "cockpit" on my FJR is a product called AirLIFT edging: https://saeng.com/product/quiet-and-smooth-air-pocket-motorcycle-edging-wind-deflector/ I ordered 3 feet of this product (enough to do my OEM Touring windshield) and it has made a...

is there a better brake lever?

I got this tip from taking the on-line ChampU course: ride using my index and middle finger on the front brake lever at all times (thumb, ring, and little finger control the throttle). I can't believe how much finer control I have now on the throttle and braking! Of course, this won't help...

Black Hills Rendezvous FJR/DUAL SPORT/ADV Bike - "Non-Rally" in the Black Hills June 20-23 2024 Steak Dinner and Registration now open!

I'm on wife #2 (since 1997) and we have a good relationship. Which means, I ONLY mess around with my motorcycle! ;) She even lets me go on multi-day motorcycle trips each Summer. YMMV (Your Marriage May Vary)

    Side Panel Repair

The paint on a 2014 (US model) is three parts: basecoat (grey color), top coat (red color), and clear coat (no color). If you are good with rattle can painting, you should be able to get close to the factory finish. I've primarily used the color pencils for small nicks and scratches. YMMV

    INNOVV ThirdEYE BSD system

@kebo123 Very nicely done! I've been considering such a system and was wondering how to install the rear sensor. Very clever. And your 3D printed GPS holder is amazing, especially redoing it with the 2 mirror signals mounted! I shall be following your review of this new technology.

    Front brake pad pins

OOPS, I guess I will only upgrading one side this time around! Thanks Dan C. for the correction! And to answer your question, I have NOT yet received them.
