    Paint vs Wrap?

The shop in Atlanta that does most of the exotics, at least is the highest regarded, also does bikes. They had a couple they were working on when I went in to discuss the options for wrapping my next car purchase..

2018 GTGA | Grand Tour of Georgia | Registration now open

... I was confused by the description, said no mandatory routes but then you are given routes, distances were something like 15-50 miles but hardly any of the red blobs on the map were <50 miles from me. Wanted to post but figured I'd just wait until I got the "passport" and see..

Ditto.. did you examine the old head yourself?

    The Reminder Note . . .

An elderly couple was watching television one evening. The wife said, "I’m going to get a dish of ice cream now.” Kindly, the husband offered to get the ice cream for her. “I’ll write it down for you so you don’t forget,” she replied. “I won’t forget,” the old gent said. “But, I want...

    Smokers (BBQ - not grilling)

KM, I think being in a *convection* oven might have something to do with it being a little less moist than you expected. I use one all the time to dry things out, even at very low temps - like jerky at barely above room temperature (most ovens can't go this low..) I have half a slab of pork...

    Time for a new bike...

Have you ridden them? I enjoyed my rides on the ST but would not prefer it for LD vs. the FJR, although I don't plan to spend much time off-road. I do know, however, people in all three camps (v, V, and ST) - and they all swear their choice is the best for their needs.

    ECU Re-flash

It's better to use an external unit as the map can be easily changed via USB connection, especially if you make other mods at a later time. There's not enough demand for FJR ECU changes beyond fuel mapping, so I doubt you'll find anyone that offers it as a service.

    Smokers (BBQ - not grilling)

They are typically above mine as well. The Akorn was my first Kamado smoker (but my 5th overall), and it's enough to tell me I will always want one. Although I am happy with my it, I know it won't last forever. The KJ will. I've also done enough research to know that if I ever needed another...

    Smokers (BBQ - not grilling)

Christened my girls KJC with a leg of lamb. The drip pan was later used to roast potatoes and brussels sprouts, and the remain frond used to enhance the sauteed mushrooms and onions...

    Smokers (BBQ - not grilling)

Yeah.. had for the first time at Jack Stacks in Kansas City about 10 years ago. Oh my god. Had to know their secret but couldn't find anything, so one day I threw a few into the smoker with some baby backs, I honestly don't remember what I used for a rub but I expect it was just what I used on...

    Smokers (BBQ - not grilling)

I'm sure you've covered your rub above, but just a quick comment on that - I make my own, and a large portion is brown sugar. It naturally gives a nice crisp surface without tainting the flavor. If I want sauce, I do the same - just a little to dab them in.

Got any good ideas to paint helmet ?

My best friend did that, had an absolutely gorgeous design painted on his helmet. Never rode with it. Picked up a new white one instead.

    Smokers (BBQ - not grilling)

Mine all live outdoors, I have nowhere to store them. I'm building a sturdy cart for the Joe so it can be repositioned, and it will get a cover. Ultimately I plan to have an "outdoor kitchen" arrangement, but for now I've got a large gas grill on one side of my "deck" (ground level, 40x10) and...

    Smokers (BBQ - not grilling)

Read, read, read. Try kamodoguru.com and amazingribs.com then practice, practice, practice. I don't know how long I've been smoking, but I'll be keeping my "fixed" Akorn until it falls apart because after addressing all of the inherent sealing issues, it works *really* well. That will be my...

    Smokers (BBQ - not grilling)

I make a mean meat chili. No stinkin' beans. It takes three days, and after each day, it gets to spend the night back in the fridge, cooling down. It makes a HUGE difference to the taste as each day goes by. One day I'll try to figure out why....

    Fuel Gauge Question

Ditto.. I've never put much more than 5 gal in if I fill up right after the blinky mode starts annoying me, which means I have about 40-50 miles left in the tank. Stay within those bounds and there's not much to worry about.

    Engine switch

.. and this is why so many consider "shops" to be dishonest. I would not own motorcycles if I was dependant on someone else to maintain or repair them, but I also know of several people making a truly honest living doing right by customers, that I would not hesitate to trust with my machines...

    " big balls "

Allballs may be chinese, but they are tapered and with appropriate lube, will outlast the rest of the bike. That said, if your stock bearings have been maintained correctly, they should also last pretty much forever. The issue with some Yamahas is that they were pretty stingy with the grease...
