    steering head sockets

I revisited this thread last week and it inspired me to get off my ass and craft up some tools I've had promised to fellow riders for months now. The CNC's were all tied up so I had to do them the old fashioned way. <_< Next project will be tools for the FJR drive. I'll throw a loaner...

    Corbin Dual Sport...I was skeptical

The wife and I took a spin on Saturday, so I decided to try out the Corbin that came with my FJR. First things first, I don't like the way it looks and it's a b1tch to get off with the Givi rack installed. That being said, after a couple of hundred miles it became obvious to us both that it was...

What do you make of this?

When I disassembled the shaft from the coupler I noticed what seemed to be moly paste on the seal and dark, thick oil on the splines. There was also an excessive amount of lube applied to the universal joint splines as it was caked inside of the guard/covers. I deduced that someone, likely not a...

What do you make of this?

While it's apart I might as well takes some measurements to machine the tools required to disassemble the pinion from the coupling and remove the pinion carrier.

What do you make of this?

I think I found the culprit. I'll have to let the dealer off the hook on this one because there was no evidence they had removed the driveshaft from the coupling. I spent over an hour today trying to locate someone who had the seal in stock...no such luck. I'll order it tomorrow from a...

What do you make of this?

Excellent write up SkooterG! Due to the mileage (<8K), I believe it is the seal between the driveshaft and coupler. I'm fairly certain that the dealer service was the cause of the leak but I think I'll take care of it myself.

To total or not to total...

Sorry, she went to the boneyard. Why do I get the feeling I'll regret not negotiating a lower buyback and keeping it around...just in case?

What do you make of this?

Took a sweltering 300 mile ride today and discovered a small puddle of gear oil had leaked within minutes of returning home. Then a second puddle after I parked the bike in the garage. It appears to have come from a drain hole in the swingarm. After it had cooled some I checked the level and it...

Fresh tires installed + bonus TPS

I considered pulling the wheels myself and taking them to the dealer to have the new Pirellis installed. A lazy streak came over me and I decided to instead take the bike to the dealer. When I picked it up today, the tech informed me that the recalled TPS hadn't been replaced and he installed a...

    Dunlop has discontinued the D220

The SV came with D220s. The rear was done at 6600 miles and the front was still decent. They stuck good enough for a ST tire but I wasn't impressed with the wet/cold weather traction.

    which bar riser is best

I'm 5'6" and the 32mm risers on my bike feel weird to me. They'll be for sale as soon as I round up some shorter bolts.

    It's like it never happened

I finally managed to get some miles in and all seems well. Tomorrow I'll get the Strada's installed and hopefully the PC will be in by Saturday. I'm not too crazy about the bar risers. Maybe because I'm used to clipons.

    Recognize this connector?

I thought I saw something glowing under the seat. No wonder the keyfob was a dosimeter!

    Recognize this connector?

    Good Lord...I hope not!!

    Recognize this connector?

Yep, it's on the new bike. I was hoping it fit something cool so I have an excuse to buy one. "But sweetheart, the bike is already wired for it."

    It's like it never happened

Nope..not Marks fault. It's the pilot in commands job to assess road conditions and act accordingly...even if you're following someone. I've been riding these things since the summer of love and one street "get off" ain't too shabby over that many decades. Live (luckily) and learn.

    Recognize this connector?

This was wrapped around my Ram mount. It's about 17/32" diameter and one of the connections is putting out 13V. Any idea what it fits?

Now HERE'S a Kawi triple I could live with!

I remember the breaker point version of the H1...1972 I believe. I had a '69. Mediocre brakes and horrible rubber chassis. I did a lock to lock tank slapper at 90 and sold it a week later! Even with its faults, the explosive power when it came on the pipe was pretty awesome.

    It's like it never happened

OK, let's try this again. Same as the deceased bike with the addition of a Corbin seat, Givi topcase and bar risers. Nearly identical mileage and condition. I also got the oem seats and luggage rack. I am pleased. Ok,ok...I'm more like a kid on Christmas morning! Now if you'll excuse me, I feel...

    Ram Aqua Box

I use one and it's definitely waterproof. It works ok but the light reflection on the flexible screen cover makes it hard to see. My next GPS will be waterproof.
