Wow. I think this is the only forum I frequent that I'm NOT the oldest guy on the forum! I'll be 55 in a couple of months, started riding when I was 15, and did it legally when I turned 16. My first bike was a Bridgestone 50.

If you can't use Vista cruise, are bar end throttle locks the only ones that work with the factory grips? (on the '06 AE)

I had problems at first too, I was considering the helis. Someone here suggested the Grip Puppies. I tried them and they made a HUGE difference for me. Very little cost for a big benefit.

+1 I'm a short fart, 5'7" with 30" inseam. I've got the same bike as you, with the stock seat also. I find it more comfortable than a couple of the aftermarket seats I've tried. I suspect something in your ergos is causing you pain. If you've tried scooting farther down, where it's narrowest...

Doesn't sound like the end of the world to me. I'd imagine that a quick scan of parts suppliers shows that most of the things I might need for my fjr are in stock. However, I CAN see how it can be inconvenient for some folks (at least until some smart entrepreneur comes up with a fix and fills...

I seems that after every piece of legislation is passed, ...you inevitably get some group or another screaming that this is going to end life as we know it. I've yet to see it happen. Always it's the manufacturer (who stands to lose some market share) that is funding the artificially induced...

I'm kinda' interested in going this year. I'm just wondering how you get 300+/- riders (and associated groupies) in that little restaurant? Is there a point that the ride has too many folks attending?

Like him, I had questions about mine ('06AE) before I wrote the check. Now I have no regrets, ...whatsoever. Like any bike, smooth shifts take a little practice. My biggest peeve is with the grabby throttle, otherwise it's a great fit for me. I'm only 5'7" though. If he has problems, be aware...

I bought my '06 AE about 4 weeks and 1.2k miles ago. Took me one trip around the parking lot to get down with it. Just like any bike, you can screw up the shifts, ...you just have to try harder with this one. Go for it, you won't ever look back! Bob

For something cold, ..SWEET southern iced tea (all year round). To warm me up, any of the Islay single malts. Laphroig is my preferred brand, 15yr old or Cask strength.

There are alternatives to the T-Rex. I'm probably going to order these OES Sliders. They sound good, look good, and I haven't found any threads condemning them like the T-Rexes. Bob

Grip puppies took care of most of my problems. ..another cheap/easy fix. Bob
