2011 IBR - The Inside View

The riders carrying spare FDs can change them out rather quickly with tools they carry on the rally and they are just being prepared for what may fail, not really worried at all about the possibility. In 2009 the two riders so-equipped were riding to win and were carrying spare parts to cover...

2011 IBR - The Inside View

Just my take. I imagine some riders were disappointed, others stoked, by this year's format. Time will tell how this year is viewed against the other IBRs. But then again, we hardly remember who podium'd after a couple of years, so it probably won't matter much. ;) Relativity....A few...

    Bill Mayer seat?

I put a Rocky Mayer seat on my new 09 when I bought it this past February. I had one on the 1976 R60/6 for 260,000 miles and loved it. I've got 26K on the FJR, Utah 1088 and IB5000 rallys and am quite happy with the seat.

    2011 Ibr Who'S In

During the 2009 rally I spent about one half of the miles traveled on non-Interstate roads.

    PR2s

The other thing that will lead to needing more weight is if the person using a balance stand does not seat the temporary axle in tightly against the bearings before balancing the wheel.

    Fuel Economy Mystery

For the first 20K I averaged 43 mpg. Mix of ride-to-work and road miles. During the IB5000 my average on the second leg was 48 mpg, close to 3K including interstates at the posted speed limit, mountains and city riding. Bike now has 25K.

    HID Ballast Install

I have the ballasts for my low beams in the front cowling and the ballasts for the driving lights where the passenger seat used to be under the auxiliary fuel cell. You can extend the length of the wiring to the igniters.

Charging system, Gen II, is it?

I do have an "A". Good thought though.

Charging system, Gen II, is it?

Evenin' Folks. I've searched through past threads but come up empty and could use some help. I'm on a new '09 that I've put 2,000+ miles on in the past two weeks and think that I have a charging system problem. I'm running a Datil voltmeter off of a switched relay from the battery which...

    FJR Fuel Cell?

Well thank you kindly Joe. I truly appreciate your taking the time to give me advice. As a matter of fact I've spent many days searching this forum and others using Google and the search function here and have reams of hardcopy on various topics. A lot of the information I have found is for...

    FJR Fuel Cell?

I'm doing the same thing as Bob on a new '09 but with a jaz 5 gallon cell. Anyone have photos of this cell on an FJR?

    Mounting a Jazz Fuel Cell

I'm doing the same exercise with my new '09. The four gallon Jaz cell in the photos is the same one I gave away two years ago and replaced with a five gallon Jaz. I'm trying to get the five gallon in place but it's going to be a bit harder because of the sump at the discharge. I've got it...

    Gen II fuel cell

That's the sort of info I was looking for. I only want to drill one hole one time. Ride safely

    Gen II fuel cell

I've read the threads on installing the bulkhead fitting but in one discussion there was mention of making sure the fitting on GenII bikes was clear of a heat shield and there were links to a page on the Cal 24 site that came back as "not-found". From the discussion it seems that the placement...

    Advice on a lowering kit

Anyone running the Meissner lowering kit from Wild Hair accessories? I need to get a more solid setting on the ground at a halt. I'm thinking of the -18 mm. kit which should work out well in terms of height. Will this turn the handling to crap or have any other negative impact on the bike...

    What's reasonable for an '09

I did some haggling with a local dealer and rode an '09 home a while ago. It's a bit different from my '76 R60 :) . I appreciate the advice.

    What's reasonable for an '09

I've been on the phone looking for a new 'o8 or '09. Of nine dealerships I've called only three have an FJR in stock. Only two have the non-automatics. One wants 13,700 and the other 13,992. Both are new, black, full warranty. Another dealer said he could get one and that list was 16,290...
