I've been on the phone looking for a new 'o8 or '09. Of nine dealerships I've called only three have an FJR in stock. Only two have the non-automatics. One wants 13,700 and the other 13,992. Both are new, black, full warranty. Another dealer said he could get one and that list was 16,290 which is startling.

So what is a decent, realistic, I-get-the-bike and the dealer-makes-a-living price for an '09?

Here is a link to a thread just asked the other day:

The best way to search past threads is to Google:

Site:fjrforum.com 09 price

Price is very regional and will depend a lot on your market area, the whole supply and demand thing.

I paid $12.200. for mine this summer, but had other local dealers tell me they couldn't have sold me that bike for that.

I've sen other post from folks not that far from me and they paid closer to $13k.

Some dealers also got some "left over" '09s for a much better price then dealers who purchased them earlier. Obviously they would be able to give you a much better price and still make a profit.

One is suggesting $16,290 for a conventional '09? He's confusing the AE MSRP. MSRP for a conventional is $14,490. Remember I made up the FJR Model Comparison Matrix.

The $13K bikes are about $1K below MSRP....not bad. I think when floor inventories were higher there were some bikes $2K below MSRP. The bike's standard warranty is 1 year, but (and I don't say this lightly as I'm not usually an extended warranty guy) the YES warranty is a non-brainer. If it's included in their "full warranty" price then consider that a $400 extra. If not, and they try and charge a penny over $400...then call D&H and have it added. You can get the YES from ANY dealer (as long as you don't live in Florida).

Carl Stark just bought an '09 for about $12,500 delivered.

I paid $14,100 OTD in Orange County, CA. We have high taxes and registration fees. The bike itself cot me about $12,650, and then the rest was taxes/registration. New 2009 FJR1300A with 0 miles on the odometer.

I did some haggling with a local dealer and rode an '09 home a while ago.

It's a bit different from my '76 R60 :) .

I appreciate the advice.

I bet Lisa is rolling her eyes right now. The Borg have assimilated yet another one. :)

A bit different? I'm guessing you grabbed less than half throttle.......breaking it in slow.....and STILL nearly pooped your pants. I liken it to an electric freight train. Turn the knob from 1 to 11 and WOOSH!

You're gonna have fun Joel.

Congrats Joel!

I rode my new 08 home today. The great big thing I noticed right away was the clutch. You let it out 1 mm and the bike starts to go. And yes, the responsiveness is amazing to me from an 06 GS, so for Joel must be downright UNFOOKINGBELIEVABLEAMAZING. My friend who took me to the dealer insisted on following me home. I left him in the dust a couple times, just to see how quick that bike would accelerate. It does so very quickly! I was soooo tempted to go flying by a speed camera on the way home just to get a ticket on my first day with the bike. I decided that it wan't worth the $40 ticket, but the photo would have been awesome!

Joel,

Does this mean we'll see you on something other than the R60 at the next IBR?

By the way, from your write up on the '07 IBR:

Next stop is York, PA for two bonuses that are fairly close together. I had only gotten an hour of sleep since Sunday morning so I stopped in Carlisle, PA at a motel for three hours of rest and an attempt to dry out my riding suit with the motel hair dryer. There was an IBR bike at the room next to me when I checked in and another nearby when I checked out. As I left a car drove up and a guy asked me if I was in the rally. Turns out he’s and IBA member and was on his way to work when he saw me. It’s certainly a small world.
that was me.

that was me.
Randy gets around. He stalked Doug Chapman, John Langan, and myself in York as well. Ended up riding with us to Witte's house. Confusion, surprise, and delight in the same instance as pulled up along side me at a stoplight. FJR riders are everywhere.
