    July 2019: GenII/III Rear Seat Replacing Auxiliary Tank – a.k.a. Tag-Along Tank

Just checkin'... I'm curious if photos will post. These are the tanks before cleaning and leak-testing. Since this photo was taken all have shipped. [ I hold on to the idea that I will get another FJR. So, I had a new, unused tank from the previous build that will be put into service in...

    July 2019: GenII/III Rear Seat Replacing Auxiliary Tank – a.k.a. Tag-Along Tank

I've done a few checks on these and the new fabricators did very nice work. I should probably leak test 'em anyway. "An error occurred You are not allowed to use that image extension on this community." We don't want any surprises. But, we are getting really close to shipping these!

    July 2019: GenII/III Rear Seat Replacing Auxiliary Tank – a.k.a. Tag-Along Tank

Tanks are done. I'll retrieve them from the fabricators tomorrow.

    July 2019: GenII/III Rear Seat Replacing Auxiliary Tank – a.k.a. Tag-Along Tank

Update: I apologize for not posting an update earlier. I expected these to be completed and shipped by now. Unfortunately, I had no news to share because my requests for status updates were not answered. This morning I received a detailed email from the fabricator. Short story; these require an...

    July 2019: GenII/III Rear Seat Replacing Auxiliary Tank – a.k.a. Tag-Along Tank

I expect the tanks to be completed soon, so I made a sort of 'unboxing video':

    July 2019: GenII/III Rear Seat Replacing Auxiliary Tank – a.k.a. Tag-Along Tank

Griff purchased a JEGS, but never installed it. It sounds like the holes nearly lined up, but not quite.

    July 2019: GenII/III Rear Seat Replacing Auxiliary Tank – a.k.a. Tag-Along Tank

The 45 degree JAZ filler neck is probably the most popular option. But any JAZ filler assembly with the six bolt hole pattern will work. (The "Indy Cap Jr" looks pretty cool) dcarver, Do you want to chime in? What did Griff put on his? Was that a Pro Werks? Do you have a photo? If I recall...

    July 2019: GenII/III Rear Seat Replacing Auxiliary Tank – a.k.a. Tag-Along Tank

There will be no change to the design. The tanks will ship exactly as described in the original post. I invested two days of effort exploring it, but in the end it would be too expensive. There are six days left to participate. I will place the order July 15th. Today I confirmed with the...

    July 2019: GenII/III Rear Seat Replacing Auxiliary Tank – a.k.a. Tag-Along Tank

I have five orders so far. The each cost is now 900 USD. The currency is specified because one is going to France, and one to Australia. So, that is pretty cool! The consensus seems to be in favor of a slight design revision. The JAZ filler opening will likely be replaced with a 45 degree...

    Auxiliary Cell Design

I have a faint recollection of discussing this with 01VFR. Plus, I PMed garauld via FJR Owners forum. Check the thread over there and see if you question is adequately answered.

    July 2019: GenII/III Rear Seat Replacing Auxiliary Tank – a.k.a. Tag-Along Tank

So. We're at three, for $990 each? Cool. I'm working on a fourth. I'm pretty sure that person has no idea this is going on.

    July 2019: GenII/III Rear Seat Replacing Auxiliary Tank – a.k.a. Tag-Along Tank

I am coordinating another short production run of the GenII/III Rear Seat Replacing Auxiliary Tank – a.k.a. Tag-Along Tank. Although a lot of what follows was copy-n-pasted from previous group buys, there are some significant differences. Please read carefully. A considerable amount of effort...

Alright. I have the costs. I will compose something in Group/Self Buys right now.

    Auxiliary Cell Design

Aluminum requires more welding skill. So, from the fabricator's perspective it's a more challenging material. Steel of the same strength is thinner, but also heavier and I would have needed to re-model the tanks for the thinner material. So, I'm glad he was unfazed. If I had to re-model these...

    Auxiliary Cell Design

Well... That was anticlimactic. I met with the fab shop this afternoon. I brought my tank, my CAD files and I assumed we were going to be discussing stainless steel. But, once he had the tank in his hands, his reaction was "Oh. That seems pretty straight forward, nothing too complicated..." So...

    Auxiliary Cell Design

In the last week (eight days), I've had three people ask if I was still making tanks. My answer to each has been some version of this: From time to time, someone contacts me asking about tanks. If there is sufficient interest, I coordinate another short production run. I recently built a...

Aux Fuel Tank Question:2006 fit on 2016?

Is it attached to the passenger seat, or did it replace the passenger seat? "Givi rack" ... Which one? There should be plenty of clearance. See here: <Link> Do you have any photos?

    Where did 2017 go?

My follow-up question is: Where did 2018 go? I got a PM today asking about my tanks, which always makes me wonder "Where did someone hear about my tanks?" ...a couple of searches later, I found this thread. Very nice! wow. Time does fly...

Tag-Along Aux Fuel Tank fuel pump or not

These will work relying on gravity alone. The first two prototypes, mine and dcarver's being exceptions. Those two had copper drain lines. The diameters were probably too restrictive. The production tanks were plumbed differently, however shared the same valve. In 2011, a rider using one of...
