In addition to the information provided in the Craig's List link below, I will facilitate a fly and ride. Pick-up the rider at the Helena Airport, provide lodging and meals for two nights and just maybe a wee dram. You will take delivery of a bike ready to take on a long ride while you are in the heart of a fantastic riding area. Bring your passport and ride southern Alberta and British Columbia, including Jaspe/Banff National parks and the Nakusp region; ride in the Rockys of western Montana and Idaho, we are located 20 miles from the Continental Divide; or, take in Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks as well as the Beartooth Pass and Chief Joseph Byway.

I will not yet change the price on the Craig's List ad, but a buyer from this forum will get the reduced price.

Ohh man, I live about 8 hours ride north of you, and though I remain enamoured with my old Gen1, have to admit you're making it hard to maintain my fidelity...

GLWS!

Hey Big John, yes, I do lust after a number of candidate "update" replacements for my old girl, but right now I'm also one of those guys spending some time doing necessary maintenance on my current mount:

  • I'll take my FJR's rear subframe into a specialist aluminum TIG welder recommended by my local bike shop here. Last July, while preparing for my next long trip, I noticed a 1cm long crack through the aluminum box section tubing on left side. This subframe supports rider + passenger, my heavy saddlebags and full size tail trunk. Initially I panicked a bit, thinking I'd have to bow out of a trip to Colorado that 4 of us had planned / made reservations for 6 months earlier. A buddy came by my garage, and soon we decided I could easily fashion a safe splint piece from some scrap aluminum plate I had, then we bolted it right through that frame with 4 M6 bolts. Worked just fine ever since (~8000 Kms more), but now its time to resolve it with a more permanent fix
  • The HyperPro rear shock + remote adjuster which I've really been happy with for almost 6 years, now needs a rebuild. Have to extract it and send it back to New Jersey (EPM PERFORMANCE IMPORTS), and let them freshen it with new seals etc.
Without taking care of these 2 items, I'd have no reasonable offers from prospective buyers. My garage just doesn't have room for 2 FJRs...

On the advice of counsel I am lowering the price to $6,750. I will not change the Craigs List post, but if I am contacted through this forum, then lower price applies.
