    2006 FJR1300A For Sale

I'm selling my well traveled FJR. I've taken this machine to every state in the lower 48 except Ohio and Delaware. I've just about retired from long-distance riding so the poor thing doesn't get much attention any more. It's in very good condition given it's age and has only fallen over one...

    2013 OEM Shock on 2006 -- Plus Ride-On

Update: the cyclical front-end vibration problem has gone away with new tires and no RideOn in the front. I checked torque on my head nut when I changed the tires and it was good, so that wasn't the problem. I don't know if it was the RideOn or the PR2 tire, but I didn't want to chance it being...

    MotoGP and Westward

Just in case anyone is interested, I finally got my BLOG updated for my recent trip out west. I had a great time but schedule pressures made this trip a bit taxing. https://highandby.blogspot.com/2013/09/motogp-and-beyond.html

    2013 OEM Shock on 2006 -- Plus Ride-On

Thanks for the suggestion. My front PR2 is about exhausted (currently 8K miles), so I'll know soon enough if it was the Ride-On. I'm a little gun-shy at this point about anything other than static wheel balancing, but I've never heard any bad comments about the beads; maybe I'll give them a try...

Musings of an aging FJR rider

"Without precipitating a statistical debate" In the famous words of Inigo Montoya "that word, I Do Not Think It Means What You Think It Means”. OK, enough with the humor. Perhaps I should have stated that flying, as in general aviation-GA, is a high-risk activity. No amount of statistical...

Musings of an aging FJR rider

As a non-current (bi-annual physical pending) pilot, I would only suggest flying to folks with lots of discretionary funds. Not only is flying dangerous -- even relative to motorcycling, it's way more expensive if you do it enough to maintain proficiency. It definitely is an adventure learning...

Musings of an aging FJR rider

I read your post with great interest, as I just completed a riding adventure: Atlanta to Michigan to Montana to Wyoming to Utah to Illinois and back home in ten days. On the final legs of the journey, I began questioning my reasoning for such a grueling undertaking. Like you, I'm not getting any...

    2013 OEM Shock on 2006 -- Plus Ride-On

To be perfectly clear, I mounted the tire and did a static balance before adding the Ride-On. In retrospect, I wish I had not added the Ride-On until exhaustively testing the ride. The problem may not be the Ride-On, but I won't know until I remove the stuff or find the cause. For typical...

    2013 OEM Shock on 2006 -- Plus Ride-On

Head nut? I didn't check the torque when I changed the fork oil, but it wouldn't hurt to look. Thanks for the suggestion.

    2013 OEM Shock on 2006 -- Plus Ride-On

In preparation for my annual cross-country adventure, I needed to do quite a bit of work on my 2006 FJR which included a new rear shock. After reading the specs on the new 2013 FJR and checking the prices of after-market and 2006 OEM replacement, I decided on the 2013 OEM as the way to go. I...

Blue Ridge Parkway, NC, VA, and TN

Very nice report. I rode the entire BRP last fall from Cherokee to New England and it was the highligt of the journey. I live North of Atlanta and have riden the Dragon many times. If you can do it on a weekday, it's a hoot as there is less clutter. The FJR is a temptress in that scencario and...

2013 FJR Shock Assembly on 2006

My 2006 FJR is in bad need of a new rear shock, but I don't want to pay the extra cash for an aftermarket variety. I noticed that the 2013 shock assembly is a bit cheaper than the 2006 version. My understanding is that the spring on the 2013 is also a bit stiffer which would be a good thing and...

New England via the Blue Ridge Parkway

Yes, I was really disappointed that I couldn't explore some of the roads I had researched. Maybe this spring :D

    Attack of the Twisties

Great pictures! I was in King's Canyon and Sequoia National park on my mini-van this summer. Does that count?

New England via the Blue Ridge Parkway

Just in case anybody is interested, I took a little journey from North Atlanta via the Blue Ridge Parkway to New England and back. Unfortunately, it rained quite a bit and the trip wasn't as fun as as it could have been. I also didn't get to take as many pictures as I would have liked to, but...

    Just Got One: Yamaha FZ1

Sounds like you have everything I plan to do with the exception of the ignition module offered by Ivan. I will probably hold off on the 16-tooth sprocket to evaluate the engine mods effects. Interesting that you "zipped" the flies open. I've read of others doing that as opposed to the modified...

    Just Got One: Yamaha FZ1

I am planning on getting an Ivan FCE soon. After that, I plan to finish the popular mods including: airbox, flies, and catalytic converter removal. At that point I'll probably need a new map for my PCIII. Which mods have you done and what's the results?
