Were you at the Dragon yesterday near 6 or 7pm?

I was there yesterday. It was nice meeting you Frank. I'm heading north to WV today, have a safe trip! I saw the guys you are talking about but didn't get a chance to meet them. Oops, I think I'm talking to the wrong guy.. But Frank did mention you on the forum, that's why I'm confused. My name...

    Cali Charcoal Canister Removal

It would not damage it at all. The parts diagram doesn't show a separate throttle body for the non California models so I am assuming they just have rubber plugs over the number 1 and 3 connections. Just like the non Cali models have the same tank with two vent lines in the back, they just tee...

    Cali Charcoal Canister Removal

I did not, but looking at it I would think there would be, the fittings on the throttle bodies are just like the ones on top used for throttle body sync. Also I would think there would have to be vacuum in order for the system to work as intended.

    Cali Charcoal Canister Removal

The canister has three lines total. One is a drain out the bottom, one goes from your tank to the canister, the other is from the canister to the 1 and 4 cylinder. When the left side fairing is off it is easy to determine which is which. After you tee the two drains together on the bottom of the...

    Sill Running Like Crap!

There is a drain at the bottom of the canister. If it is plugged it could still be causing the rough running issues. I hope it works for you. I know it can be frustrating when our bikes are sick.

    Sill Running Like Crap!

I had an issue with my charcoal canister. It would run rough, have difficulty starting, and feel as though it was only firing on two cylinders. It would clear up after a couple miles though. It sounds like yours is running rough and not clearing up at all. Is the drain clear on your charcoal...

Changed oil and then bike feels like two cylinders working

Definitely not the canister then. The canister vents the fuel vapors back into the number 1 and 4 throttle bodies making them run too rich and flooding them. Models with no canister just vent out the bottom. I hope you get it fixed soon, I know it can be frustrating.

Changed oil and then bike feels like two cylinders working

I see you are in souther NH but is your bike from there or is it a California model? I ask because mine did the same thing. It was right after an oil change, but I did it outside and from sitting in the sun, the charcoal canister caused it to run exactly as you describe. A week later it wouldn't...

    Cali Charcoal Canister Removal

Ok so I did this to my bike today. I unplugged the hose on the canister that goes to the number 1 and 4 throttle bodies and plugged it. I then used a "Y" fitting and attached both drains from the tank into the original one that ran to the bottom of the bike just forward of the swing arm. Am I...

    Canister removal

Hey guys, I'm hoping you can help me out. I have a 2007 Cali model FJR and after sitting in the sun it is hard to start, or after it does start it runs like crap. After a brief search I found that I am not alone and others have had the same problem and it appears to be related to the charcoal...

I took my FJR to a Harley dealer open house party yesterday

I know what you mean. I went to a Harley place with some friends (who own Harleys) I was looking at some of the different models and a salesman asked me what I currently rode. When I told him, he kinda smirked and said I didn't know what is was like to be a "real" rider and asked if I had a...

    When does high miles matter?

It is way more about how it was taken care of over how many miles it has. Check out the owner's garage does it look like they take care of their other vehicles? Was it garage kept? Were oil changes done regularly ? Does the previous owner brag about how well it will wheelie? Or how long it will...

    Quick question about forks....

According to the service manual the top of the fork tube should be flush with the top bracket not including the cap. How are yours?

    Starter

11 volts sounds low to me, I would try another battery first. Plus, I could be mistaken but don't you have to drop the engine to get to the starter? That could be a huge PITA

    Yuasa battery

It is possible that it is still the original. I have a 2007 that still has its original battery and works just fine. A lot of people recommend changing them every four years just to prevent a breakdown in the middle of nowhere. I had a Suzuki bandit before and it's original battery lasted about...

    Piston slap? Or...

Every so often it does the clunk/backfire noise when cold. That is the one I thought was because of the fuel map. This noise is more of a dull knock with every revolution of the engine until warm. I don't think it's a bearing though because it is not there when the engine speeds up or when warm...

    Piston slap? Or...

I have a 2007 FJR with about 9000 miles on it. I have noticed when it is cold out(below 40 degrees F.) that it has a knocking sound coming from the left side of the engine. The sound goes away once the engine has a little heat in it or about one bar showing on the gauge. I am using Mobil 1 full...
