Broken Key Question, Number on case lock

So I made it to the dealer yesterday in Washington Missouri and.....even though the locks on my 07 are clearly marked behind the lock sets he said it's illegal for him or any other dealer to cut a key from that code. I asked him if he was sure about the law or if it was just his dealers policy...

Broken Key Question, Number on case lock

I'm going to stop by a dealer tomorrow and see what they say. I was able to open one side case with the poorly cut key that I had on hand and it has the same stamped code that the topcase has which also matches the stamped code under the gas tank. That 4 digit code must mean something and I'm...

Broken Key Question, Number on case lock

So when I bought my FJR a couple of years ago it only came with one set of keys and no plastic key number. I immediately bought two blanks and had a local hardware store try and cut them. He was spot on with the ignition key but couldn't cut a working tank/cases key. Sure enough I never...

    Tail of the Dragon

MFerriter here is the best shot I could find of the other "FJR's" Apstate....the three in the vest refuse to smile, ever...I blame my non smile on "monkey butt". Our Friday was straight from St. Louis and we didn't stop, except for gas/food until we got to our hotel in Alcoa TN...

    Tail of the Dragon

I was lucky enough to leave the St. Louis area on Friday and ride straight to the Smoky Mountains. I went with 4 other guys and of course we had to hit the Tail of the Dragon...US 129. 318 curves in just 11 miles. On Saturday I hit it without the side cases....Sunday we hit again but we were...

    Smoky Mountains

Just rode from outside of St. Louis to Alcoa TN. Just after checking in at the Holiday Inn, which by the way has motorcycle cleaning towels in the lobby, two fellow FJR's pulled in also. I will be hitting the tail of the dragon tomorrow.....can't wait!

    It's HOT in St. Louis

Why? Why? Why? I promise that wasn't me! https://www.kmov.com/news/off-beat/Motorcyclist-catches-a-lot-of-looks-on-Interstate-70-162907356.html?fb11

This is why I didn't ride....108 my butt!

    Staying cool while riding

108 for a day is alright but the problem is the Midwest is stuck.....our 5 day forecast is nothing but 100 and above! I'm ready for that rooftop misting device! This is the same hot weather pattern that caused the dryness and fires in Colorado.

    Staying cool while riding

The reviews on the bilt are high....and with a 5 year warranty it would be hard to complain about it!

    Staying cool while riding

I bought the hyperkewl sport by techniche international from one of their resellers on Ebay. Part of me wishes I would have bought the one with removable sleeves but this will do as I have a few long trips planned this summer. Word of advice....buy your exact size...don't go bigger....you want...

    Staying cool while riding

Actually the company I bought my vest from has a tubed vest connected to a cooler/pump but the price its crazy at over $500. The company is hyperkewl. Its still not as ugly and bulky as that motorcycle air conditioner being sold online. On a side note....as I searched I also found misting...

    Staying cool while riding

So I recently bought my first cooling vest and it paid off yesterday when the temps near St. Louis hit 102 on the way home. My chest, stomach and back stayed reasonably cool...in fact at times I could feel chills going down my arms even though I could also feel the heat of the sun beating them...

    Question on Rear Wheel play

    yep the light was complaining!

    Question on Rear Wheel play

Thanks....I was hoping that was normal and now another question. I went ahead and fired it up and I've never let it run in gear while on the center stand....the shaft sounds clunky letting it just idle in 1st.....quick run through the subdivision and it sounded normal on the ground. Is the...

    Question on Rear Wheel play

Quick question. I just slapped on a new rear tire and once I had it back together I was double checking my work. I noticed that with the bike shut off and 1st gear engaged that the rear wheel has about a quarter of an inch play forwards and backwards. I assume this is normal right?

I found a sweet spot for the Stebel airhorn

You are right sharing is the key...I should have picked up some industrial strength velcro which I think would have worked just fine. In fact the last thing I used industrial strength velcro on...I could hardly remove. Instead I used what I had on hand which was gorilla glue. On the top of...

I found a sweet spot for the Stebel airhorn

Hopefully this hasn't been posted by anyone else....but I struggled all day trying to find a great place for the Stebel Air Horn and here is what I came up with. I won't share how I got it to stick....I'll let you decide what is best for your ride. I did have to remove the caps on both sides...
