Quick question. I just slapped on a new rear tire and once I had it back together I was double checking my work. I noticed that with the bike shut off and 1st gear engaged that the rear wheel has about a quarter of an inch play forwards and backwards. I assume this is normal right?

Quarter inch of play ain't bad at all - as long as there's no lateral play. I think you're fine. There's always going to be drive lash.

Thanks....I was hoping that was normal and now another question. I went ahead and fired it up and I've never let it run in gear while on the center stand....the shaft sounds clunky letting it just idle in 1st.....quick run through the subdivision and it sounded normal on the ground.

Is the soft clunky sound normal on the stand in first?

Sounds right. The drive line "lash" at idle on the center stand has this result. It's normal. You might also notice it at very slow speeds approaching idle.

Did you see the ABS light blink too?
