    Southeast loop trip

Yeah, it's a bit much. Have a good ride and post any goodies!

    Southeast loop trip

There is a place called Springmaid Mtn at the end of Henredon Rd off of Altapass Rd just a couple miles north of the BRP/226 intx. Altapass Rd intersects the BRP just N of 226. Cabins are $130 and are really nice. The place is very secluded along the N Toe River. Do a Google search. We go...

    Southeast loop trip

Ato 80 is very technical as is 226A. You can head south on BRP for a few miles after you climb 226A and take 80 W over to 19. It's a blast! May want to gas up on 221/226 before you peel off on 226A. I personally dont like being under 1/3 of a tank out there. I think your on the money and...

    Southeast loop trip

Ato You could pick up 19 W of Spruce Pine after 80 to 213 to 70 into TN. 19 is a good road with plenty of passing avail. Never been on 70 out that far, but looks good. Have a safe one regardless.

    Southeast loop trip

Ato, I live in the Raleigh area. If you are going to TN from here, you can take NC42 from just south of Raleigh to Asheboro and pick up US64 to Morganton (there are shorter routes) and then 181 up the east side of Appal. with lots of fast sweepers through Pisgah Nat Forest, hit the BRP south...

    High engine heat

Rick I'm in the third month of my AE, and have found the inside of my feet/boots getting quite hot from exhaust heat. The pipes are very close to your feet, and every week I have to remove a bit of melted boot sole from touching my pipes. Maybe some of the 4-1 systems will work by rerouting...

    AE Satisfaction?

Coastie, I just got my '08 AE at the end of March, my first FJR as well. Been riding for 28 years, all street, and on my '83 GSX750e for the last 22. My hands and wrists started getting sore after a short while, particularly my left wrist. Got the AE, bike was delivered, rolled it off of the...

    Toe dragging

Not to mention, this isn't a 250# machine with clip-ons below the tank, as you will also see on the DVR, it's a 650# machine with bars well above the tank and elbows well above the hands. Good in principle, no doubt, but apples and oranges I believe. Balls of feet, yes. Proper shifting, yes...

    Toe dragging

Not to demean anyone finding the need to shift mid-curve, such as a compound or spiral that changes dramatically as lots of entrance/exit ramps do, but I find my feet getting pinched between my pegs and frame when I corner as well. Maybe it's because I went from my GSX750e where the rear wheel...

    Seat Mods

Cibrd0wn, thanks for the info. Gonna try it and if it doesn't work out, go from there. There is a place in Columbus, Bikes2NV.com, that gave me a quote to gel my OEM. Found their ad in the latest Cycle World. They look pretty serious about seats in general, albeit mostly custom choppers and...

Who has a line on fresh HOT MEAT?!

Dude, you'll need it! I got 3k out of my front and 4500 out of the rear. They do handle very well, all the way to the edge. Nice and sticky but practically leave tracks they wear so fast.

Pilot Road 2's Rear Tire Wear

All of this PR2 talk has provided the incentive to place a set on order. I just got my 08 AE at the end of Mar with 1667 mi with the Battlax 020 stockers. Replaced the front 020 with an 023 (supposedly better/longer lasting) one month ago at 3048 mi, have 4577 on it now with the front already...

I love this inexpensive Throttle Lock

A FJR brother I ran into at the shop gave me one of these. It snapped when we tried to put it on my AE as I believe the grip has a larger diameter and this device works in that fashion. My dad had a thumb throttle lock (Vista Cruise??) on his Wing for years. Any AE guys ever have success with...

    Seat Mods

Hey Cibrd0wn, about that gel seat... Did you find the comfort level satisfactory? I just got my FJR two months ago and have been interested in the gel seat as I like the look of the OEM rather than the big wide Hoveround saddles, and the OEM foam is a bit hard for me (2hr stint/break).

    Ridding comfort (seats)

Russell, Corbin, Sargent etc. What about the gel filled Yamaha? I like the look of stock seat, not one twice the width of the bike. 2 hrs is about as long as I can stand on the stocker without stopping and getting off for a bit . At 6'-2", 240#, I'm not small so it seems that the firmness of...
