So you wished you bought a BMW

Welcome to the BMW world. I have a K1200LT that is now sitting in my garage and only used when my wife wants to ride two up. There are two problems with the BMW system. There are so few dealers that if you don't like the one close to you you are going to travel 100(s) of mile to the next...

Thought y'all might like to see this photo

You must have one fast lens/shutter to not have blur in the photo. Most riders will stop to document the 100K mark, not impress us that the moment before impending death they were doing 100 MPH. Did you own the GL1800 the whole time or are the miles from some else? :P Enjoy all the miles...

    Ok all you Californians.....

I'm a sucker and I'll bite on your remarks. Signs about radar are cheaper than actually having patrol officers doing there job. If you happen to run the freeways at less than 80mph you will be run down. The roof top air conditoners are also the furnaces and having them on the roof costs less...

    Wanted - Magnetic Tank Bag

It's always in the eye of the beholder. I went with a Fieldsheer Eifel because I could use the small unit if all I wanted was a map holder or use the regular size for day to day commuting or stack them all for a long trip. You have a multitude of choices and all the equipment is good.

    Going to Niagra Falls

My wife a I did the Fall Colors trip to New England last year and made the effort to go to Niagra Falls. The Canadian side is by far the best side to visit. The exchange rate and hospitality is worth the visit. One warning TAKE YOUR PASSPORT. Enjoy Canada.

Get the name of the original owner and contact Russell and ask what he had done. You may be able to have the rear done by itself.

Sonora Pass to Nevada, Monitor, Ebett's Passes, 6/03/06

It was a long day for the riders from Clovis (469 miles) but worth the effort. Here are a few of my photos of the highlights. Runoff near Sonora Pass Eastern side of Sonora Pass highway FJR Overlooking Lake Alpine Bob and Brenda at Lake Alpine

    Drive shaft service

I waited untl the tire was coming off and the shop charged me for 1/2 hr of labor ($35). The funny thing was when they (the shop mechanics) said "It's a good thing we (the shop mechanics) did it". It was rather funny that I suggested that it be done and I paid to have it done but they (the...

    Drive shaft service

I had a new set of skins put on the bike today (the OEM Metzler were about gone at 6K). While the sevice department had the wheels off the bike I asked that the drive shaft be pulled and checked. I was told that it wasn't necessary but I said as long as I was paying for the labor, to humor me...

Ride with care at all times

I don't know any details but this afternoon around noon a fellow motorcyclist had his last ride. When I came past the scene at 2pm the motorcyclist had not yet been removed from the scene. Apparently while traveling north on route 25 he came in contact or side swipe a vehicle coming in the...

Schuberth vs Arai vs Nolan ......

I bought one of the Caberg helmets (actually ordered it from a web site in England). The Europeans have a little better selection of colors than what is available here in the US. The blue I ordered isn't an exact match to the 05 FJR bike but at speed no one will notice. I have a Nolan which...

    Valve Check and Adjustment

I've had a 16 year relationship with Wilsons Motorcycles and haven't had a problem. All mechanical work is pricey but they have always treated me well. My experience with Clausen has been sored for a very long time and I, for one, would go out of town before I went to them.

    Fall Color

I'm soooo jealous. My wife and I have a trip in New England and had to fly in with my ride in California. Yesterday, going through New Hampshire and Vermont, we passed groups of 2, 3, and more riders. The colors are not at their peak but I'm taking credit for the great weather. Today the...

    Aerostich Roadcrafter 1 Piece Suit

I've had my 2 piece Areostitch for six years. I was able to find a used suit that had hardly been used as the first owner couldn't take wearing it in heat and humidity. I agree that at low temperatures and in less than hurricane rain you will stay dry. I also got a fleece included with my...
