    The 2014 FJR1300 - Woo-hoo!

The 2014s are going to be arriving in middle America this Fall? Wow! I would have expected early next Spring. Maybe I better do some calling around.

    The 2014 FJR1300 - Woo-hoo!

Am I wrong to assume that this electronic suspension is the same as the European version that was offered this year? Anyone know of an reviews of that Euro FJR? Oh and... Red! That's very nice.

Cruise control on #183 will set to139km/hr

I do sympathize with those who want to be able to set their cruise to any speed, but I've got to admit that I usually use cruise control on vehicles to keep my speed consistent and lower. Under manual control, my speed tends to creep upwards into speeding ticket range unless slower traffic holds...

    2013 FJR - Product announced!

I wonder if the new electronics systems will have routine service indicators that require a special tool to reset, like newer Triumphs and BMWs.

    MPG

Overall I'm getting around 45-47. I think the worst tank was around 40 and the best was about 50. Doesn't need premium fuel, either.

    Got my rack on

I got my color matched, sport rack from Garauld. Love it. It is very well made.

    Average MPG

As far a speedo accuracy, at a bike indicated 65 MPH the GPS says 62 or so. Call it a 5% error. I've had bikes that were off by much more.

    Average MPG

The average MPG display seems to be about .5 MPG optimistic on my bike, when I compare actual gallons used with miles traveled myself. I'm getting right around 43 MPG per tank these days.

Chicago and area fjr riders get together

It was pretty cool to glance in my mirror and see so many bikes. In hindsight, I wish I'd passed those Goldwings, if for no other reason than to have been part of such a large group pass. :yahoo: And a special thanks to those who gave me some great advice about riding north later this...

Chicago and area fjr riders get together

If you stay on the North bank of the River, you should avoid most of the construction and closed roads. Illinois Route 178 through Utica to Starved Rock is fine. However, Illinois Route 71 is closed in spots both East and West of Starved Rock. So if you want to head south from there, I'd...

    Mature Riders and FJR's

I just turned 35 today. I'm not sure where that puts me in the age averages, but regardless I find the FJR to be a perfect bike for my uses and comfort. The bike certainly doesn't make me feel old.

Oil filters that fit the FJR

I have a Bosch on mine now. Seems to work just fine. No leaks. Seems like a solidly built unit.

Chicago and area fjr riders get together

I was in the Starved Rock area on June 21st. IL-71 is a mess from Ottawa to Hennepin, with closed bridges and lots of construction. There are ways around the construction, of course, but detours are going to be a given. I'll try to stay informed and make it out to one of these gatherings.
