Just found out about the new model from a friend, and I'm jazzed about the color, love that red! Thank you Yamaha. One of these is going to be in my garage.

I was looking for el.suspension and inverted fork on non AS version - shit, it is now here. Great nice new bike in my garage, but without those farkles! Waiting for some experience sharing and comparison between A and ES. No info about ES in EU Yama page so far, but I think it will come soon.

I have no inside information, but I hope that the ES suspension is more than just electronically adjustable. I hope that it is premium components that will work on par with the aftermarket stuff that many of us have put on our Gen 1 and 2 bikes. Otherwise, why bother?
That's my concern as well. For an extra $1000 they should be using the good stuff but the FJR suspension history has been less than stellar. Making a so-so suspension electronically adjustable doesn't make it good.
Yes, this is exactly what I meant in my prior post by: "assuming it actually works as advertised".

Not only should the front suspension be electronically adjustable, but maybe more importantly the rear shock needs to be too. At least remote preload adjustable beyond the old hard/soft lever. Otherwise it will not really fit the needs of the sometimes solo day rider - sometimes 2-up and fully loaded tourer. I do not think I am alone in that category.

I want one very badly but my 10 just wont let me. And I just bought a 2013 Honda Coupe.

I am wondering if the suspension is worth the 1K. I am sure it is useful but are they good parts and can they be replaced by aftermarket stuff? I have to say I would just do the the red and go to AKs and a good rear shock. Never move my suspension anyway and have no clue what it adds in complexity? It is one nice looking motorcycle though.

And the FZ-09 has me wanting a second bike anyway. Also noticed the price is as my dealer quoted me a few month ago.

He said 7 new bikes in the next 5 years from Yamaha. We have just seen 2.

Am I wrong to assume that this electronic suspension is the same as the European version that was offered this year? Anyone know of an reviews of that Euro FJR?

Oh and... Red! That's very nice.

Good point. My old '05 is long time paid for (actually paid cash for it used). If I were to trade in my '05 I'd be looking at spending the same money as buying a new FZ-09 with no trade in.

Those come in red too, and I wouldn't have to buy all new FJR farkles. Hmmm...

That is a great point. Since that suspension was just released last year on the Euro AS, one would have to assume it is identical on the new US ES bikes. How has it worked out overseas? I can't recall any of our Euro members saying they had bought a 2013 AS.

IT'S RED. It can be had with ES. I get that. However, I would ask is that it? Any other changes? Too soon to tell? For example, after reading every post on this thread, not one has addressed a big question we all had last year. We've heard it said that "no news is good news." I would disagree. How come nuttn's binsedd 'bout the 80mph limit on all American version cruise controls? We need answers, people. Somebody needs ta SHAKE THAT TREE.

Me? My 05's just gettin' broke in.

All the farkles make it work,

My savings account's starting to perk,

No payments = less hours I gotta work.

I'm on the fence on this one, really like it and way more so than I was with the '13... but an AE version? (now that I'm hooked) probably would push me over that fence.

Mama Y, please don't release the AE in the US... you will cost me a really great g/f!

Makes me feel even better about spending money on my '03... For the price of what my monthly payments would be I can continue to add farkles!

Anyone interested in a barely broken in 2007? (just 69K) That red one is nice looking. Would definitely opt for the ES for that minumul price difference.

Wish I could, but two things stopping me:

One: They're not actually available in the UK yet (promised for April, then May, then...).

Two: - and far more significant - SWHTPS* says no

. Trouble is, she's right. My post-retirement paid work has dried up

There again, I don't suppose I'd be a very good reviewer of the suspension. I'm still on the original suspension of my '10 (just on 24000* miles), I am almost always solo, I currently weigh in at about 140 pounds, and I'm not a racer. Though I do sometimes push to my limits, even occasionally teasing the odd sports-bike

*SWHTPS: She Who Holds The Purse Strings.

*8000 miles per year is considered high for a motorcycle in the UK, even if not for the few FJR riders I know here.

Best 'Inside Information" Award of The Year goes to: SkooterG. Thanks for that.

Re. the 2014: I like the way the front fender protects the tubes. Now, show me the second or third generation paddle shifter version . . .

Top Speed, you know Damn Well they'll bring the AE over here. The suspension, all the bells and whistles, AND the AE feature?!

Bro..... It's like Death!! It WILL happen! And I'll be waiting! :))

Nice. I thought the color on the 2013 was interesting, but not something I'd be eager to put in my garage. I'm not into red but I have to admit it looks REALLY good on the FJR. I like the black too. Too bad a couple of things don't line up for me, like that my bike isn't paid off, I can't afford a new bike, and I haven't put enough miles on the current one to consider trading her in.

Can't believe on the ST Forum guys are bitching about the 1 yr warranty on Yamaha's / FJR.....

I've owned my 05 for almost 10 years and never had anything need repair.... Normal Maintenance, brakes, tires, oil change, spark plugs, air filter.

Whats with the Honda Hate on a bike that is far and away a much better performer in every sense.

Well then I'm just going to have to jump ship on my ordered K16 (and lose my non-refundable $500 deposit ). The only thing that would stop me is if the AE comes out in a really crap-hole color like a rootbeer brown :(

So a deep/rich red in an AE?, I'm sold here :)
