So…I got back from a ride and had an epiphany

I loved my FZ1s! If they had just had more bottom end, I may have never switched. With that said, I don't think anything beats an FJR as an all-arounder - as long as you don't include off-roading! ; )

    Anything about the 2008?

Thanks SkooterG. Great answer, you gave me a lot to think about considering I expect this to be my last FJR purchase! I guess I'll probably be looking for a '13 - '15 because I really don't want a sixth gear - I'm usually in 4th on the freeway as it is unless it's wide open spaces - and I want...

    Anything about the 2008?

Thanks RossKean! Anybody know about the cam chain tensioner - or how/where to look to find out?

    Anything about the 2008?

Hi all! Well, there's already so many threads about the best gen/best year FJR that I decided to come at this from a different angle. I'm selling my 2007 because I found a 2008 that's set-up the way I want it - Yamaha top box, progressive springs and an aftermarket shock. Low miles, never down...

    New FJR Owner

Congrats and welcome to the club! As a former FZ1 lover (had 2) I think you'll like the FJR even more - I do! Loved everything about the FZ1 except the lack of low end. The result is that the FJR, heavy as it is has pretty much the same 0-60 and 1/4 mile times, but much more enjoyable on the...

Welcome! 3rd FJR and just joining? You'll be glad you found us! Do you prefer the first gen, or was it what was available?

To lean or counter-lean, that is the question...

Nice work Dale, bet that was fun!

To lean or counter-lean, that is the question...

Lots of good stuff here! My vote (and almost 50 yrs of experience) goes to counter-lean at slow speeds, lean-in at higher speeds, counter-steering as necessary, and hanging off when riding at the extreme. I highly recommend a YCRS or similar course as a survival strategy - you have to know how...

Hi there, from me and my 2009 ex-police FJR

Wow, what a drag! I'm sure someone here knows how to make it work. Have you messaged Ivan?

Hi there, from me and my 2009 ex-police FJR

Welcome! What's an "immobilizer"? It occurs to me that if you bought a U.S. ECU and had it flashed, and it didn't work, you could probably sell it. But I'd want to be pretty sure it wasn't going to fry anything when I hooked it up - can't help you there! I've always wondered why we don't have...

Where did you get the stocker? Mine came with a Cee Bailey and I'd prefer the stock screen too

    typical "busa rider

Maybe I couldn't see well enough, but was he doing that with no gloves and a pair of Nikes? It seemed like they were being real careful not to crash him - until they did. Even so, it looked like they were just trying to corral him against the fence and he wouldn't cooperate. Definitely not the...

    Another back again!

Wow, thanks man! That was good to see - I thought I would need a replacement stock bolt, but that was part of the wire loom. I guess I could still just use a shorter nut - if I could only get to it!

    Another back again!

Thanks again RossKean. I believe they're Genmar risers. I did read up on the Ivan flash and am familiar with him from his popularity on FZ1s, too. Definitely going to take your advice and ride it for a while and see what I think, and what the gas mileage looks like.

    Another back again!

Hey Ross, Thanks for the really great response. I did have a G2 throttle tube on my first '07, and also disconnected one of the throttle return springs, and I was pretty happy with that. I haven't really ridden this much yet, the bar risers make me uncomfortable, but I just found out I can't see...

New FJR rider as of today

Congrats on getting a great bike! (You'll see) Any idea what that backrest is? Looks like a stock seat. Back when I got my first '07 that was not an option.

    Another back again!

Wow, this is getting spooky! Do FJR's cast a spell - you might get away for a while, but you'll be back! Just bought my second 2007 after selling my first one (bought new) in 2014. This one needs some "fitting" - it has bar risers which I don't need, a Cee Bailey windscreen that I'll have to...
