    First gen timing chain questions.

Hello folks, I'm back with more questions about my bike. I've heard some stirrings about first gen FJR's having issues with timing chain tensioners and I'm trying to find out how common this is. Also, what actions are needed to fix the possible issue. My bike is a 2003 with 7600 miles on it...

Thanks for the help guys! I may be on the lookout for a gen 2 head. As stated above, I can replace the parts for cheap, and it should be okay. I've heard things about the cam chain tensioner being an issue. Should I replace it as a preventative thing? If so, go oem, or aftermarket?

SkooterG, if it comes down to it, I'll pull the thing apart and have it machined and then put it back together myself. Should cost less than 1,000 bucks total. Just a little sweat equity

Well I am an auto technician so I ought to know the basics of a stethoscope lol! Is there an updated part number for the new seals?

So I have done some reading recently on first gen FJR's having a ticking issue. My bike has developed a semi frequent tick that is sometimes silent and other times very noticeable. The noise is more obvious on the left side after the motor is warmed up. When listening with a stethoscope I can...

Believe me, after I got comfortable with her, I have given it plenty of wot pulls. She pulls hard and strong. Makes me grin every time. Bike runs like a champ!

I've not attempted that yet! No wheelies for the rookie here. Maybe one day

    03 typical behavior

As most of you know, this fjr is my first street bike ever. It's also my first fuel injected bike as well. I just have some questions about normal behaviors since I have now put over 1000 miles on her. I got the bike almost a month ago with 4800 miles on the odo. It's at right about 5900 now...

    First kinda long ride

So I just picked up my first bike 2 weeks ago. It's an 03 fjr and I absolutely love it. I just took it on my first longish ride. I went from Cincinnati to Columbus all on back roads. It was a rather uneventful ride, but man this bike cruises! She does 70 like it's 45. I love it! Very...
