So I just picked up my first bike 2 weeks ago. It's an 03 fjr and I absolutely love it. I just took it on my first longish ride. I went from Cincinnati to Columbus all on back roads.

It was a rather uneventful ride, but man this bike cruises! She does 70 like it's 45. I love it! Very comfortable for 2 hours, I had plenty of room in the bags for my stuff, and with the windshield up, it was quiter than my (recently sold) miata!

So while the ride was uneventful, I just wanted to give my praises to this bike. Very pleased with her so far!

RR, now you know what all the fuss is about this bike. It's Awesome. If we have to explain it, they'll never understand. Happy Trails! :)

Good for you. Your FJR weighs more and has 2 times the horsepower as the Miata does too. They are great machines no matter how all they are!! Welcome to the fold.

She's solid as a rail on the Interstate, too, and will do 80 mph all day long without breaking a sweat.

Sounds like you're going to enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine!

Good on you, great choice with the FJR. I remember those first "long ride" days. Wouldn't trade them for anything.

The farther you go on the bike the better it gets.

Sounds like you have a smile plastered to your face!!!! Awesome!!

And after a bit, maybe next summer.... You will look at that long ride from Cin to Col, as just a hop, skip, and a jump up the road. Heck, that's just a quick drive for a lunch date. ;-)

The FJR is a fabulous machine..... Enjoy it!

I've ridden 235 miles to have lunch with my brother, then rode back home, all on backwoods county roads. Made for a wonderful day.

I bought it with risers already installed. They just happen to fit me perfectly. Only thing else I might add are some crash bars and a taller windshield. (I'm 6 foot 3 inches.)

And now you understand the comments about it being a "Mile eating machine." Long rides for lunch are fun. I've ridden the 400 miles round trip to Austin for lunch a couple of times and for the GP races on my FJR. Of course, I also rode 500 miles for lunch in Memphis, but that was for really amazing food and an IBA cert was in the works.

Congrats on the new purchase and welcome to the group!! The rides only get longer from here and they're never long enough.
