Long story short, I had the smuggler on the back of my FJR during an accident that totalled the bike. Got divorced a few years ago, and found the latching mechanism gone.

Now that lifes finally stabilized, I got a replacement tongue from corbin(after 2 years of trying, and giving up). They gave me 2 leather pieces, rivets and a steel hoop, like the one we use to lock the seat down.

I can figure out the tongue, even though it's straight and I swore my original was grooved. It's the placement of the steel hoop that has me confused. I cannot for the life of me figure where it goes, and if it does, how to make it work.

If anyone w/ a gen 1 smuggler could just take a pic of the rear end with the tongue and hoop showing, I'd greatly appreciate it. I looked online everywhere for a pic of it, and only got one that was fuzzy and didn't show it from the rear at all. pics of this thing are in the "gay japanese midget clown ****" section of the web I guess.

Thanks for ANY help!

If you post them here, others could also benefit ..... although there is dwindling demand for Gen1 Smuggler knowledge these days. Click here and here for techniques; PM if you have questions.
Note: iPad does not offer buttons to insert links or photos ....? Or bold and italics? I had to type them in like some Cro-Magnon TRS-80 guy? Jeez, Apple, how about joining us in the 21st Century.

Thanks! While I agree with Hud, I also need to get this fixed asap. So, my screenname, without the space for 13, and @gmail.com.

As an aside, you really fly Vipers? HUGE aviation fan. So much so, my road trips/vacations with my son always have some form of military aviation involved. Last year we got a tour of the Thunderbirds Museum and hangar at Nellis, after our foray into Death Valley and some time at the Jedi Transition/Star Wars canyon.

Yes, I did fly for the Wis. Air Nat'l Guard 115th Fighter Wing. Retired last Fall.

Sent you 2 emails with pics attached. Hope it helps. Let me know if you need any more views.

I'll also try to post them on here per Hud's info.

Wow, posting pics on here is a lot of bother. If anyone wants the Smuggler pics posted on the site I can send them to you and you can post them.
