That's all the shop info I have Rick. It didn't look like they were backed up in service so I would imagine that we will know something within a few days.

Anytime I make additions or changes to anything mechanical (Car, boat, airplane, motorcycle, etc.), and something goes wrong, I start going back over what I just did for answers. The last major addition I made was to add the heated Corbin seats. They were wired up exactly the way Corbin suggested, with the B+ wired to a piggy back fuse assembly plugged in to the slot where the signal fuse went. Both seats were turned on at the time the problem happened.

The only other electrical item that has been on the bike since the first week I bought it is an Autocom intercom. It has worked fine. The guys at the shop did remark that they would prefer to wire the Corbin seats directly to the battery with a fused link and would make the change while it was in the shop.

That could certainly be it... and I would most definately run the corbin through a relay off the battery.

If the heaters were both on -- that could have easily causes a sensor and/or MCU failure.

Seems like the YCCS diagnostics would at least tell ya there's a problem. Best of luck, and keep us posted! Does the YCCS indicator on the display light up "1" ?

EDIT: from the service manual:

If the YCCS indicator comes on while riding, stop the vehicle, park it in a safe place, and then contact a Yamaha dealer.

(It's the "1" LCD on the display just above the time where the "Shift" light is)

Because the YCC-S system stops automatically when the YCC-S indicator and warning light come

on, it is impossible to shift since clutch operation is stopped.

To move the vehicle, turn the main switch to “OFF” and place the vehicle on the centerstand. While rotating the rear wheel, push the shift rod forward and shift the transmission into neutral.

How odd... I saw your bike today while I was at D&H. Sorry a/b the trailer thing but glad Nick got to the problem for you. Hope you have happier days in the future!

Problem solved!

I talked with Nick at D&H this afternoon. The problem was a blown fuse that I missed. Earlier I mentioned the new heated Corbin seats and the Corbin recommended method of attaching the B+ through the signal fuse position. The new fuse holder provided by Corbin replaces the signal fuse. The old signal fuse goes into the new fuse holder in parallel with a fuse they provide. When I checked the fuses after the bike stopped, I missed the one they had installed in the holder. With both seats in the on position the electrical load was too much for one of the fuses in the Corbin fuse holder and it opened up the signal circuit which controls the sensors.

Nick has rewired the seats. I plan on calling Corbin and talking this through with them.

I appreciate all the support from you guys.

Jim, glad to hear the problem is solved, although it's a bummer that it happened at all. Good luck with Corbin.

Hate to say it, but I'm glad it wasn't an OEM type problem. I'll have a lot more confidence going down the road.

Damn, dude!!! No kidding this happened. I am glad I read this post before responding to your post above. I think it would be a baaaad idea to put in a very high load like this where it doesn't belong. The engineers designed the wire harnesses for the appropriate loads. They have a little safety room, but no where near what two resistive heaters will draw.

This is definately not your fault, but SHAME SHAME SHAME on Corbin for such a shotty recommendation. Any such load must be tied directly to the battery or a terminal block tied to the battery (i.e. no factory fused inline). I'll take a stab and bet this thing draws around 15A.

Like FJRocket said, good thing this was not an OEM problem. Makes me question what the hell Corbin's engineers were thinking. Maybe explains why their stuff is so damn $$$$$$??
