Don't need no stinking 6th gear. If you had it no roll ons you would have to shift. Plus what are you complaining for. Us other model year owners hit 4 grand at 70. I hear you don't hit 4 grand til 80.

Did you also hear that the 06 has a higher stator output (590 verses 490 for pre 06)

Hey! All of you with your new fancy '06's with their improvements - shut the hell up! You're giving me feejer envy.

Picked up my bike on Friday. Got 650 miles in the weekend. No problems with mirrors.I am with most of you on the wind screen. I thought I would be able to get by with the stocker untill I raised the seat which made my legs more comfortable, but I am now to high in the wind blast wit the screen in the highest position. Will check out the aftermarket when they come out.

Yo! I got my baby on Friday and took her for the first 150 miles on Saturday, it rained Sunday and I got another 100 on it today. I came from a Concours and i don't really know how to say this in a nice way so, here it goes. "the Concours is like driving my old 57 Chevy pickumuptruck, and the FJR is like driving the new 05 Benz that is parked in the garage, What most amazed me about this bike is how smooth it feels, everything from the way it accelerates and turns but the way it shifts and stops. It cuts the wind like a knife, takes twisties by only looking and tracks a straight line without any effort. I took it North today into the wind and was so pleased with the lack of lash from the passing semi's, the turbulance when following both cars and trucks and the adjustable windscreen is a blessing from the Big Guy in my book. This bike is simply the best! I am ecstatic about buying this bike sight unseen and owe you guys for leading me into this new adventure. Ride safe ya'all and hopefully we'll run into each other sometime. :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

Thanks for the link, I have checked them out. I also want to see what Cee Bailey comes out with. I had one of their screens on my Vstrom and thought the quality was very good.

Define crystal clear mirrors for me. I had the dealer check the tightness of everything and watched the mechanic do it. He rode it and thought they were extremely still. I'm expecting them to look like car mirrors on the interstate...zero vibration, not even slight. What I am experiencing is crystal clear near images, like my elbows and side bags, but distant cars have a slight fuzziness to them. Would prefer to be able to recognize their hood ornament from 50' behind me. I'm probably expecting too much...

K-2,

I've got the same problem, especially between 3500 and 4500 rpm's. I can tell there a cage back there, but thats about it. I'm hoping a TBS at 600 miles will correct the issue. As fast as this thing is, i need to constantly be on the lookout. its a huge challenge to stay "within the limits". I sure would like to see whats back there.

I don't think you will ever find mirrors on a bike that look like car mirrors on the intestate with zero vibration. I've owned a lot of bikes over the years and the mirrors on my '06 are the best yet.

I just wrapped up a weekend ride, now at ~ 1,900 miles on the 06. This bike flat out kicks ***. I'm more and more amazed with it after every ride, especially after getting to know what to expect from it on a nice road at a sport bike pace.

As far as things I'd like to improve...

I've had the same problem with the mirrors, but only on the right side. I noticed the acorn nut on the right pivot point was not cinched down as snug as the left so I gave it a turn, but I also did the 600 mile TBS at the same time, which smoothed out the vibs quite a bit around 4k rpm. It's much better now, but still not quite as clear as I'd like. Ironically, I upgraded to the FJR from a Concours, which is a fairly buzzy bike, but it's mirrors are the best I've seen on any bike.

I'll be looking for an aftermarket windshield when they become available -- I need something ~ 3.5" taller. With the stock shield, if I scrunch myself down I'm in a nice pocket with no wind noise or turbulence, perfect for listening to tunes. I'm 5'10" The width of the stock shield seems perfect.

The stock seat is ok for ~ 2-3 hrs but then I feel like I need a good stretch break. I'll probably pick up an aftermarket seat for use on multi-day trips, and continue using the stock seat for everything else.
