my dad sent it to me....

This is from BMW sport touring:

Re: "FJR Valve guides premature wear also known as the tick.

Yamaha has addressed this problem and found that the valve guide seals were not allowing a sufficient amount of lubrication to reach the valve guide.

The newest information is that they have a new guide seal

Fjr valve guide seals new part # 33m-12119-09-00.

old part# 33m-12119-00-00.

Yam warranty policy currently is to cover any year FJR that develops this problem regardless of expired Warranty.

2006 FJR has different Valves Guides and Seals and improved design then prior models."

ummm, after all the fighting and arguing and denial from yamaha, this seems like quite an about-face. sounds a little too good to be true?

anyone else got an older they got fixed with no problems?

This has all been covered in other posts recently.

While most of that information is very true, it is still wishfull thinking to declare the "tick" officially cured. Time will tell.

sorry for being new and unaware.

let me rephrase: is there anyone in northern texas that has had a good experience with a dealer, not had any warranty left, and just walked in and asked them to fix the tick under this new announcement? which dealer?

if someone else has already paved the way, i would like to know. or if anyone can point me to the appropriate past thread, I'd appreciate the assistance.

Welcome to the forum!

It's okay to be new, but there's no need to be unaware; the Search button is your friend here! :D

Click the Search button (top right of every page, on the menu bar between the "Help" andf "Members" buttons), enter "Ticking" in the keyword search field, and watch a couple dozen threads be returned!

Again, WELCOME to FJRForum, fjrchik! B)

You are forgiven. ;)

No "new annoucement". Gradual information over time. Hopefully a Texas member will be able to help you out here.

A search using the word "tick", or "ticking", returns a plethora of threads with useful info, among them:

Tick solved? thread

Ticking soundbyte thread

Apratt's most excellent advice on how to get a ticker fixed

Good luck!

Any more stupid questions, give me a ring!
