At the Yosemite ride ( and on the board ) there was discussion of a meeting at Alice's when the 06 Yamaha's are released for preview on the west coast on October 1st , so..... what ya'll say... who's in, who out, any interest?

How about we meet at 10-30, and that should give out of the area riders time to get up the hill, we can check out the 06's then go ride the area for a few hours.

I just happen to live right off of Skyline / Alice's area, so I guess I'll volunteer as tour guide! :D

BTW I'll be offline through the 24th, headed to do some sailing in the BVI, so amuse your selves while I'm gone 'kay ! B)

Interested? Hell, I think I'm addicted. I'm already scheming to dump...er, arrange a sleepover somewhere nice for our 8 year-old that Friday night. But it's okay. I'm gonna miss Don't try this on an FJR this year to take her to Marine World (in a car, no less). Yeah, I'm a giver... :)

p.s. My truck is the third one in line on the cover shot

Sounds like fun. Count me in. Maybe they will accidently leave the key in the 06 for test drives . . :D

Had a 860 mile day yesterday riding from Couer d'Alene to Sacramento. 15.5 hours and I could have gone a couple of more. I can't believe I did it. I got to Bend, Oregon and thought, I am feeling good, I will continue to Klamath Falls. Got to Klamath Falls and thought, I might as well go on to Weed [there really is a town named Weed in California]. I got to Weed and thought, what the heck, only 240 more miles to go. The FJR gets all the credit . . . the more I expand my personal riding envelop, the more the FJR has to offer. Amazing.

I almost forgot to mention, on the trip north to drop off Karen in Couer d'Alene, we were rained on, hailed on, and zapped at by lightening. At one point the road was covered with hail so thick you could not see pavement. I came around a curve and suddenly it looked like the road was covered in snow. I engine braked from 45 mph to 10 mph while rolling through it. Luckily it was a straight stretch of road and only lasted for 1/4 mile. I don't know what the coefficient of friction of hail is but it can't be good. The bike handled it well and did not sustain any hail damage. Whew &$%*! Riding on hail or snow is not something I wished to experience in the FJR.

You know I'm in/ A chance to see the '06 Yamaha sport bikes and FJR, enjoy the roadways of the San Francisco peninsula with the "Big Dog" leading. Oh yeah, I'm all over this!

Edited: Nope...I was reading '06 as the 6th of October for some reason...Oct 1st is a no can do for me :(

You guys going to Alice's (or wherever on the East coast) had better bring a damn camera and post pictures. Lots and lots of pictures. :D

The Alice's of which we speak is on the "left" side of a map of the U.S. It is South of San Francisco and almost due West of Palo Alto (Stanford University). There is a road that runs the spine of the coastal mountains called Skyline Blvd. (Hwy 35). At the intersection of Skyline and Tunitas Creek Road is a restaurant on one corner and a mini-mart on the other in a little community known as Woodside. A great place for motorcyclists of all stripes to meet and ride some really great roads and enjoy some wonderful scenery.

On October 1st, Yamaha is supposed to be showing off their new sportbike "fare" for 2006.

Yeah, bay--bee!

I'm gonna miss OrangevaleFJR!

Yes. Sorry, I meant was if anyone goes to Alices _or_ where ever it will be on the East Coast (because I forgot where it was there).

Yeah, well, most of us knew what you meant but Mike was just being his usual, very helpful, self. We love him anyway.

It's actually west / southwest of Palo Alto. I'm looking forward to going but this may be a deal breaker for us. :(

Actually, I've heard there is an "Alice's Restaurant" on the right side of the continent. The person who told me about it said it was the real ALices. So there, all you smarty-pantses!

Uhm, Toecutter, you could always come and order the new '06.......

I think I'll just end up painting over the scratches, but thanks for the idea. Maybe if it wasn't gay-*** Blue (not that there's anything wrong with that). :D Besides, I need to show up and get some extra ears on my bike. I think it may be a tickin'. :(
