The year, price and color I believe are the only known differences thus far. Once deliveries are made, I'm sure we'll know more.....

So far, it seems to be a shift in the colour spectrum  and a slight rise in the amount of ducats required for purchase at MSRP. Thankfully they've left the enjoyment/fun-factor meter at "10".

What about this euro tuned "french" engine?
Actually, they're the French detuned engines. And they can be converted by taking out the injector restrictions and reprogramming the ECU. All you have to do is check your engine serial number against the list on the European board to see if you have the problem.

Are you in France or going to buy a French bike? If not, I wouldn't worry about it. Those folks use bikes for snipe hunting anyway.
Yes I'm in France & planning to buy an 07 so I do worry about it.

Might I be better off buying from the UK?

Never seen a Snipe here either.

No politics and no religion, but Nationalist predjudice is OK?

Try riding in France before you make any assumptions (you may be suprised by the advanced "Moto" culture).

No "Nationalist prejudice", just dealing with the fact that France limits the horsepower of bikes sold or registered in that country. Before you purchase an FJR from "out-of-country" you should check on the legislative limits imposed by that country's government and see if they apply to your particular situation.

Similar to those of us who live in the State of California, who must have motorcycles that have the appropriate CARB (California Air Resources Board) sitckers of compliance. Any bike brought into this state with under 7500 miles must have the same stickers or it cannot be registered to a California resident (and never will be allowed to be registered in this state if it is taken to DMV and they "flag" the VIN). Those moving to this state from another are exempt from this requirement.

Perhaps, if you had filled out your personal information (Specifically your location) we would see it under your name, know where you are posting from and be able to give you more exact and pertinent information regarding your search for an FJR.

Just my humble opinion.

Uhm, excuse me, but we have a number of members of this forum who are European, and some from France. We also have a number of Canadians of French descent. While I understand that many of us would not subscribe to the governmental politics of any other particular country, why should that disclude them from participation of the enjoyment we all share in owning and riding our FJRs, or from garnering, sharing and using the collective knowledge on this or any other forum.

Some would do well to remember that the FJR was first distributed in Europe for 2 years (Yes, including France where there is a rather large contingent of owners where many riders from other nations enjoy riding in their country and are welcomed and helped by those owners.). I am assuming that members who subscribe to this forum have read the adventures of Pierre Sousa Lima and his vacations from his island home on Portugal to the continent. The United States contingent was not the first to the table, we've merely joined the ranks of those who have preceded us.

We merely have to make sure that any buyers of US distributed FJRs haven't received a bike with the detuned France-bound engines. :dribble:

Does this result in lower accident rates or any other discernable benefit?

Yeah. That crosses the line. In the spirit of Christmas I'll just say, knock it off caryt. Take your politics elsewhere.

Thread has been asked and answered......so it is now closed.
