What do you all think a 07 with 60 miles is worth in an outright sale or a trade? The reason I am considering this is, I really, really like the black 08 - a lot. I did put a riser on it which may or may not go with it. Thank you.

I'll up that to $5500 and will pay for a limo ride to your dealer
$6000 AND I'll HIRE "ENTERTAINMENT" TO GO WITH THE LIMO!

<giggity giggity>

Honestly, I have no idea how it would go down... your best bet is to surf ebay and the classifieds to get an idea of what it would sell for then take it down to the dealer for their 2 cents...

I was always told that any new vehicle depreciates 10-12% the second you ride it off the lot...(even if it has 2/10ths of a mile on it)

So do the math...

Seems like you could take it in and get a custom paint job any color you like for less than you will lose on trade or outright sale. A solid color shouldn't cost that much at a paint shop.

I really like the black one myself. In fact, the only hesitation I had about buying my 07 was the color. I told her that if they made black the color for the US this year, I'd be pissed.

Well, of course they brought out black this year.

However, trading in a bike with 60 miles on it, you're going to lose a lot of money. You take a pretty big hit just getting the title in your name. I've heard that new 07s, what few are still around, are going for something in the upper 11000 range, he's going to have to sell a used 07 for less than that, and of course make a profit, so I'd be surprised if they offer you 9000 for it.

KBB trade in on it is 8100... probably a little low, but thats probably where the dealer will start.

So, if you trade it, you'd be paying several grand for the 60 miles you rode your bike. Not a good deal. And the thing is, if you ride that bike this summer and put a few-many thousand miles on it, that trade-in value isn't going to change much. So if I were you, I'd ride the bike this summer at least, and then see if the color grows on you. If it doesn't, you can look into either getting your 07 painted, or getting an 08 (and you may be able to get a leftover 08 next year at a much better price than they are selling for this year, or even a used one).

All in all, it's your money, if you do trade it in, I'm sure someone else will get an awesome deal on your used bike, but it seems to me like you're going to pay a lot of money for a paint job if you do.

are we really having this conversation? jesus you vain lil boob, get on the freakin bike and stop whining about what fucking color it is!

-jesus!

Dude....WHY?

I've owned both the 07 and 08, and it's not worth the financial loss you'll take. If you add the G2 throttle tube & unwind the throttle, they're nearly identical, technically. Don't get me wrong, I love the Raven 08, but it's not THAT superior to the 07.

My friend just bought an 07 brand new for 11800 bucks out the door. He got a couple of helmets and heated grips thrown in. Good deal I told him. I think you'll lose your ass but you never did say what you paid for it or what you owe on it. You'll take a hit that's for sure. Ride it through the summer and it probably won't be worth much less than it is now and you can trade it at the end or the year and save some bucks.

Chameleon Syndrome:

A curious affliction, often manifested in the sufferer after a major purchase, such as a new home, automobile, fishing boat, wife, or motorcycle. The victim imagines himself oddly dissatisfied with some characteristic of his new acquisition, specifically in such a trivial nature as color. He feels he must pursue a new ideal object, even though it is essentially identical, except for hue.

Unfortunate individuals afflicted with this neurosis have been known to seek an illusionary ideal to their own detriment, sometimes throwing away thousands of dollars in the pursuit. For some patients, one such exchange is sufficient to quell this impulsive malady. There are others, however, who will endlessly pursue successive ideal after ideal, essentially chasing that which is unobtainable, until exhaustion, suicide, or divorce overtakes them.

A large percentage of those striken with this condition can overcome it, merely by retaining their current bauble until they develop a sense of pride in it. Oftentimes, the once, imagined, unpleasing color of said object, suddenly changes, chameleon-like, to highly desirable. Of noteworthy mention, it has been observed that among those who have successfully undergone this conversion, there is a subset which will begin to vociferously proclaim that their's is now the best, greatest, most sought-after, prettiest, or the fastest color around. Family and friends of this minority of converts, have been known to tolerate their new revelation, until revulsion finally caused them to warn the offender:

"If you don't shut the **** up, I'm going to kill you."

I always hate the color of my new bike; everyone elses' is better... A few months later, I get used to it.

I'm with Stewart. It would be more cost effective to remove the plastics/tank and have them painted. As an added benefit, the new paint job will probably be more durable than the stock finish. Yamaha paint is notoriously soft.

Definitely hold out for as much as you can get for your '07! You'll need the extra $$$ for all the wax and cleaning solutions you'll need to keep that black model looking clean! :D But seriously...

Suggestion. Now is not the time to swap your '07 for an '08. If you're nuts over the black color, wait until the '09's start to come out. That way you'll be able to pick up a left-over '08 at a great price, and your low mileage '07 will still be worth a nice sum - so you'll experience less loss. Another plus... If Yam decides to make big changes in their '09 model, you'll have that option too.

Reviewing the '03 thru '08 colors, any guesses as to what the '09 colors will be? Yellow? Fire engine red? Beige? -_- Purple?!

On a long shot, perhaps someone that doesn't want the maintenance of black paint would swap body parts. Dealers have done A & AE plastic swaps. Ask!
