I've owned the '07 FJR less than a month and I just hit 22,000 miles but I've noticed a new sound that is present between 2,000 and 3,000RPM.

It appears the sound is coming from near the exhaust headers and is a simple steady tap or tick which is fairly quiet.

Is it time to check and adjust the valves? 4,000 miles early?

Anyone in St. Louis with the knowledge that wants to earn some $$$$

I would check the timing chain tensioner first. Although they usually make noise at idle and goes away as soon as you increase RPM.

Yeahbutt, the tensioner's nowhere near the exhaust headers.

First reported Gen 2 Ticker????

Things that make you go "hmmmmmmmmmm"

With the underlined modifier...I tend to think it's more likely the Yamaha Genesis-based head noise that's not an issue. If it really worries you...take it in the few thousand miles early on the valve check.

Shhhh....don't spook the herd. :bad:

I know it sounds silly but as we do not know the history of your bike I would ry the following .

Change engine oil as the oil could be very old .

Check for loose exhaust bolts ,remember loosen first the tighten .

Check under tank and around engine for something that is sitting on the engine and rattling eg a lost, nut bolt etc
